All those fish......Shelly dear, you'll soon need to watch "that line" there....
I once had those Catfish meat marinated in a special sauce, specially spruced up to make a tasteless species tastes like ostrich!!! That's when I gave a thumbs UP for them since...but have little pleasure reeling them in...

not sure on your last reply yogi , did you mean you have fun reeling them in or not ? If you have fun reeling them in maybe you should try catching a white sturgeon on the Columbia River . You can only keep sturgeon between 40-60 inches but there is a lot of sport fishing for the bigger ones. they will use something like a 5 pound shad for bait, if you get ahold of one of the bigger ones (14 foot plus!) you could be there a couple of hours or more. In the early 1900's they would use a team of horses to catch bigger sturgeon , I've seen a picture from the 1920"s of a 26 foot sturgeon .Now that was a lot of fish!

...that's a good size for an average "large" sturgeon catch...abt the size of a Moose Pike I once reeled in for a Shell Outdoor Competition held at the moose lakes in Canada some years back.
Regarding the reeling in of those you wondered, I meant that it WAS NO PLEASURE simply because of my personal dislike for that species and their meat is pretty ghastly in taste!!!
Here's a larger than life haul for an hour long tug of war.... which I love wading for...!!!

those aree some nice pics.
where I live the sturgeon come into the shallow bays & upstream a little. In the shallow water they will fight & run as good as a large chinook salmon. There is not as many here as on the columbia river but it is still enjoyable and for a bonus when we're fishing in the bay we'll set out our crab traps for some dungeness crabs too!Last edited by thinksnow; 11-11-2005 at 10:59 AM.

yogi I have never tried those benelux beers (never heard of them before reading your posts) maybe you'll have an extra one at a future convention eh? Usually I'm having one a little lighter in color
