How would I know whether a customer is serious?
How do high-end retail salespeople know whether a customer is serious?
Answer:
I sell cars and one of the things that let me know whether a customer is “just looking” or planning to buy the car today is whether or not they have any idea what they want.
If I ask a customer “What are you looking for?” and they tell me that they have absolutely no preference, I am 95% sure that this customer is not going to buy today. Maybe next week or even next month, but absolutely NOT today.
Those customers who come in at least knowing what price range, body style, color or etc are the most likely to buy. Those customers who view our website and know exactly what car they want are the MOST likely to buy.
