Dr.s Visit...much like the dinar rollercoaster.
So, I spent the better part of my morning yesterday in the Dr.'s office, and I couldn't help but to note the similarities in my experience there, with my experience on this ride. I entered the dr.s office and checked in, the receptionist nurse said hello, and said they would get me back there momentarily. (HYPE ALLL HYPE, I should have known .... but it felt sooo good to believe her) So, I sat in the WAITING room, getting to know all of the other patients in excited anticipation of the unknown. Enjoying the company of others, and enjoying all the free Kleenex and Highlights magazines. Yes, there were some naysayers..."This office sux, they are always running late...I bet he doesn't even come in today at all"...then the more optimistic patients "Today is different, there is hardly anyone here"....and THEN OF COURSE THE RUMOR SPREADER....(the receptionist who believed was in the know...."It's going to be any minute now"
So then, a GRAND MILESTONE (I thought took place)...my name was called, and I was lead to my own private room, where I again was told....it was just a matter of minutes. I sat there, alone now, trying not to make too much noise while sitting on the paper covered table. I was trying to listen for any clues and speculate on what exactly was going on outside of my room. Sometimes things would happen, like a shawdow would be cast under the door...and my heart would start racing thinking...this was it!!! It was FINALLY my turn for the doctor. I would start wondering....hmmm, will he write me prescriptions SOON and will there be A LOT of them?? However, the shadow passed....and NOTHING!!! Then I would try to translate the muffled voices of the Doctor's staff....was that the dr.'s voice I hear.....I hear HE is the ONLY ONE TO LISTEN to??? However, a lot of times, when I thought I heard him say....I'll be seeing Melissa in room number 1....he obviously was wrong...or there was some sort of delay. I decided to take a break from all this speculation, and started reading a Better Homes and Gardens magazine from 1998. However, the final step was always in the back of my mind.....the rumor of "momentarily" loomed as I looked at how to paste dried flowers on my old lampshades. Then, the most exciting thing happened. I heard a fan going.....a bathroom fan....(the doctor must have had to use the restroom) THIS WAS MY FINAL DELAY!!!! Listened to the fan, which seemed to take an eternity...then THE FLUSH....then the sink......THEN HEARD A DOOR SHUT!!!! YES!!!!! WOOT...WEEEEE this was it!!!......................but it wasn't, I became furious...at all of the people in the waiting room...and especially the NURSE/RUMOR spreader. I started to pace around this little room.....thinking of all of the nasty things that I was going to say to everyone when I FINALLY got out of that room. When out of nowhere the doctor appeared.....and I got exactly what I wanted and needed. I left the dr.'s office, happy....and didn't have the need to strangle anyone anymore.
Sorry, just needed to rant!!!!
I hope it happens just the way it happened yesterday at my Doctor's appt...
btw, filling my prescriptions was a very easy transaction and only cost me $20!!!!!:party:
