Has Exxon already signed oil contracts now?

Thursday and Friday the Dow closed at a record high day. It closed at over 13,000 points and there were two things that pushed them over. One of them had a unknown surge which was Exxon and I'm trying to think of the second name but it deals with the reserves and currency. I wonder if Exxon has signed their contract now and their market cap went up. But either way something is up with Exxon. Also remember the article that said the oil and gas rate has been approved. HCL might be fully ratified. Look at this article and see if you find a resemblance.

OSLO (Thomson Financial) - Shares in DNO ASA jumped in afternoon trade, outperforming a weaker overall market, on rumours that the Iraqi government will soon pass a law allowing foreign oil companies - including DNO - to extract oil in Iraq, according to dealers.
At 3.25 pm, shares in DNO were up 0.36 nkr, or 2.96 pct, at 12.51, while the OSEBX benchmark index was 0.21 pct lower at 501.38.
According to Nordea Markets, the new law appears to be imminent, and as a result the broker has a 'strong buy' on the stock with a 15 nkr price target.
Rumours of the new oil law in Iraq have been circulating for a number of months, but the Iraqi government is yet to publish anything concrete.
Norwegian oil minnow DNO is the first western explorer to drill for oil in post-war Iraq, and has already said it expects to produce between 25,000-30,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd) from the region by the end of the year.

Most market rumors come true

Here is some more insight, this is what happened yesterday. Exxon's market cap rose to 500 billion and caused a rush on their stock which rose the Dow to an alltime high. The second thing that rose was the financial sector of the Dow which followed the Dow and Exxon. Something must be going on, I believe they signed a contract with Iraq which made their market cap go up which means a soon Cha-ching!!!!!

Folks something is going on with Exxon. They reached an alltime high in their stock price. Look at the surge that happened to them. It looks like a pennystock surge. Rising that much with their high stock price is amazing. We all know that Exxon has been sitting in Iraq since March 07 but I wonder if they finally signed contracts which sent their stock soaring.

My conclusion is that these things never happen to the big boards but something happened.

Remember back to when the oil Conference was to be on May 29th? For about three weeks before that Standard Oil was the big player (as to their personal connection with Condi Rice - she served on their board of director's at one time) and they were bragging on their website and in the press about about how they were to be the main player in the new Iraqi Oil Industry?

Now this about Exxon...

Wouldn't it be a shame that the real holdup on the HCL were to turn out to be a turf war between supporters of Standard Oil (the State Department's choice) and Exxon?

It would make a lot of sense in retrospect to explain the hold up between the Kurds & the Central Government...as the Kurds have always had very close relations and has been a main player in supporting US positions of policy...

They rose almost $5.00 for nothing. They could of signed something which made their market cap rise to 508.85 billion.

I say absolutely! Exxon has signed contracts and is now in production. Something big had to happen to cause their stock to jump like that. Certainly not the usual good business news...something phenomenal.

It's definitely Iraq. Anything else would have been broadcasted. ALWAYS within a day or two, a substantial stock move is followed by news of what caused the move...nothing in this case...could only be sensitive info. Definitely Iraq.

Yes!! They're all in there setting up and hiring people.. Its a mad scramble to find enough qualified people.. I'm sure they are about 30 Companies in there in all stages of exploration,, locking in drill sites and setting up equipment.. Production? Probably about two years out...before oil is flowing into pipe-lines...

Thank you for this info. Put this with other confirmed facts and I'd say there is no doubt the HCL is done. For security and other reasons, the timing is not quite right to announce. But there is no doubt this law has passed. Things that were held up, a couple of months ago, becausel the HCL was not passed, are NOW going on.

Exxon and a few others recently got the go ahead...No way unless the HCL is done.

You know I know where he is. lol. Also I was wondering if anyone heard of Fox all morning of Malilki stating, "The US Troops can leave at anytime Now"? I heard the live Translation earlier this morning and was astonished with the statement. I made a few calls and got very exciting opinions.

Very true in trying to find the qualified people. What gets me is Iraq has plenty of qualified people. they have the Oil Unions, I believe it is the trust being harder in the finding of the qualifed individuals. Where I grew up neighbor is leaving this year for Halliburton to work there. The offer was a no lock back one. My own two boys in fields, their companies have been approached with going after some of their employees. So Production in two Years. I have to disagree with you on that one Bubba D. I also now another that has brother over there with a Private company been working on the piplines for over two years now. He has always stated, "When these lines start to fill, so will my pockets". And they work on the lines that are protected by the private contractors. So there again, 2 years IMHO is maybe for the 6 million barral aday Mark. :wink:

As I said I talked to some that follow this much more than I do now for other reasons. And this comment can only mean one thing. STABILLITY & SECURITY is coming together. We are welcome there by the people and the Government. But now Maliki has got to show the people he can stand alone at some point for the following.

At 2,000 BBLs a day/well, they are going to need 2,000 more wells to get to 6,000,000 BBls. Each rig will be able to drill maybe 2 wells a year. There are only maybe 1,000 drilling rigs in the whole World. I bet only 100 rigs max will be in Iraq.. That means, only 200 New wells a year.. No way will they get to 3,000,000 BBlls a day before end of 2008..

I just want to say that I do not put my name on the line like a lot of people because I can't stand defending myself all the time. I have so much to do I don't have time to defend myself. My friend called me in March 07 and said he was in Iraq. I said what are you doing there. He works for Exxon I will add. He said they are sitting there waiting on the HCL to pass. He said they have many cargo ships already coming there with rigs and drill bits ready to drill. He said they are ready to hire 10,000 people immediately. There is a chance that it has already started. If I saw a surge in volume it would explain the stock surge. But volume remained the same which says their market cap surged. How did it surge? We will find out.!!!

Just wait until those American Companies along with those from China, Russia and the others get the go ahead. The american companies alone have done said they could get to that total in short period of time. Also a hundred rigs is more than enough. If my memory serves me right, I believe their are over 500 wells already tapped. You dont need a rig to pump.

Yes general....I can confirm this as I did also here this on the news don't remember wich station but YES its true i did hear him say this....what it means is anyones guess.....then after that they cut to some local shop owners that don't want that at all.... they fear us leaving and that they love the american presence in there area patroling the streets.

Big companies don't 'sit and wait' on rumors or a possibility. This is probably one of the biggest pieces of news we have had in a long time. Combined with the workings in the stock market on Friday, and Malaiki's comments today. I work in the Construction field, and the topic of working in Iraq is a hot one one and has been getting hotter since late April.

I beleie that he also said that we were still needed for training and other. I don't think he wants us out of there, but he definitely wants to sell the government of Iraq as independent and in control; his existence depends on it.

BAGHDAD - Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki shrugged off U.S. doubts of his government's military and political progress on Saturday, saying Iraqi forces are capable and American troops can leave "any time they want."

One of his top aides, meanwhile, accused the United States of embarrassing the Iraqi government by violating human rights and treating his country like an "experiment in a U.S. lab."

Al-Maliki sought to display confidence at a time when pressure is mounting in Congress for a speedy withdrawal of U.S. forces. On Thursday, the House passed a measure calling for the U.S. to withdraw its troops by spring, hours after the White House reported mixed progress by the Iraqi government toward meeting 18 benchmarks.

During a press conference, al-Maliki shrugged off the progress report, saying that difficulty in enacting the reforms was "natural" given Iraq's turmoil.

"We are not talking about a government in a stable political environment but one in the shadow of huge challenges," al-Maliki said. "So when we talk about the presence of some negative points in the political process, that's fairly natural."

Al-Maliki said his government needs "time and effort" to enact the political reforms that Washington seeks — "particularly since the political process is facing security, economic and services pressures, as well as regional and international interference."

But he said if necessary, Iraqi police and soldiers could fill the void left by the departure of coalition forces.

"We say in full confidence that we are able, God willing, to take the responsibility completely in running the security file if the international forces withdraw at any time they want," he said.

One of al-Maliki's close advisers, Shiite lawmaker Hassan al-Suneid, bristled over the American pressure, telling The Associated Press that "the situation looks as if it is an experiment in an American laboratory (judging) whether we succeed or fail."

Al-Suneid's comments were a rare show of frustration toward the Americans from within al-Maliki's inner circle as the prime minister struggles to overcome deep divisions between Shiite, Sunni and Kurdish members of his coalition and enact the U.S.-drawn list of benchmarks.

But the U.S. focus on the benchmarks has rankled the deep sense of Iraqi pride, even among those who share the goals set forth by the Americans.

U.S. forces have been waging intensified security crackdowns in Baghdad and areas to the north and south for nearly a month. The goal is to bring calm to the capital while al-Maliki enacts the political reforms, intended to give Sunni Arabs a greater role in the government and political process, lessening support for the insurgency.

But the benchmarks have been blocked by divisions among Shiite, Sunni and Kurdish leaders. In August, the parliament is taking a one-month vacation — a shorter break than the usual two months, but still enough to anger some in Congress who say lawmakers should push through reforms while American soldiers are dying.

Two more American soldiers were killed Saturday in bombings in the Baghdad area, the U.S. military reported. One of the bombs used was an explosively formed penetrator — high-tech devices that the U.S. military believes are smuggled from Iran. The Iranians deny the charge.

In other violence, a car bomb leveled a two-story apartment building and a suicide bomber plowed his explosives-packed vehicle into a line of cars at a gas station. The two attacks killed at least eight people, police said.

Also Saturday, the U.S. military said it captured an alleged high-level al-Qaida in Iraq cell leader at Baghdad's international airport. The suspect, believed to have organized mortar and roadside bomb attacks in the capital and nearby area, surrendered "without a struggle," the military said in a statement.

It did not give details on the suspect or say whether he was traveling in or out of the country when seized.

The Reuters news agency said one of its Iraqi translators was shot to death in Baghdad on Wednesday along with two of his brothers, apparent victims of sectarian death squads. He was the third employee of the news agency killed in Baghdad this week.

An Iraqi reporter for The New York Times, Khalid W. Hassan, was killed by gunmen Friday as he drove to work in southern Baghdad.

Ministry of oil has announced that its production of raw oil throughout the country has reached to 1.980.000 million barrels per day 1.500.000 million of which export to international markets, as it affirmed that its staffs were able to rehabilitate 250 oil wells and started in drilling 30 new wells.An authorized source said that ministry hopes to raise production and exporting capacity more than that when security situation has stability in northern region especially in Kirkuk. :ro_emote:

You have to understand that this article is talking about the INOC total. Not figuring in what the Internationl Companies totals will be. They are not added to this for this INOC total is for, or used for the Iraq Budget to figure and fund from.

I saw Maliki on fox also switched to a couple other canneles and saw the same. It sounded like he wantted the US troops out. Maybe when he feels confident that the US is not Badgering Him, and Iraq business, He will see it clear to RV the dinar just to bolster His Political Position----Maybe????

Of Course Maliki wants his governmemnt to be looked upon on as the Histian Government that changed Iraq. I agree with that but, wanting the US Troops out? I will never believe that one. And asfar as badgering him, he better get ready for more if the benchmarks were to not be fulfilled. ondi will eat him a NEW ONE. :toofunny:

Maliki is like any other Politician in the Media. Sure, wants the credit in the public eye. But He knows where HIS credit lies.

I believe the statements was for the public to feel that more security has been and is being restored and to gain the trust of the public of it being done.

Also if you have heard Gen David Pachai?????(Can not spell it), in his reports that President Bush is leaking to the US Public aswell alday yesterday, it is very promising too. Is it all true, I believe so. It has to be. Are if Maliki really meant what he said, then the troops would be on their way home.

Here is some new DD, Exxon's surge happened without a volume surge. It happened with a market cap surge. On tuesday their market cap was 481,600,000,000 billion dollars and on Wenesday it jumped to 508,900,000,000 billion dollars.
It jumped 27 billion dollars overnight.
So my question is what did Exxon do to jump that high and jump that fast?

Thank you sgs. this is my first post but i have been reading for months now. i just wanted to say "THANK YOU" and do not let the nay-sayers get you down. we want to here your post. most of us do not have the connections like you and the others that keep us posted on the info. most of us understand there is a war going on and things change on the drop of a dime. i know you do not need my reassurance, but i just wanted to say thanks. rc would be very dull without info.
