These things mean jack squat because they have no BACKBONE to stand up and change things and THAT is exactly why another dictator will take over when the USA pulls out when it goes to war with Iran in the near future. We will be lucky to get our dinars exchanged for a little profit before some bafoon dictator wants to put his ugly mug on the money like Saddam did.

Makes me wonder why you don't go to Iraq and show them what your definition of 'backbone' is before everything goes down the tubes.

I don't know if they will in fact rv before we are allowed to invest in the ISX. But I think the situation is very basic. If outside players are allowed to pour billions of dollars into the ISX at these cheap prices there is no way that the average to above average Iraqi can compete. It's our total dollars and purchasing power vs. their total dinar and it's purchasing power. Not even close. Even if there is a restriction on the amount that foreigners can buy it will still drive up stock prices beyond what the Iraqis can afford, IMHO. The benefit of economic growth through the ISX will not be realized by those that need it the most. 50% of the advantages that comes about by having a stock exchange in one's own country would be nil and void. The companies issuing the stock would benefit but not the citizens of Iraq. There would be increased employment but that is only part of an economic picture. Even here in the states with our employment up to 96% we as individuals invest heavily in our stock market. It's a huge part of an overwhelming number of our retirements. I know young folks that are investing to earn enough for a down payment on their first home. It goes on and on. I don't think these benefits could come about for the Iraqis with the dinar at current levels.

The iraquis are still buying at this price, and so would we. Then, after we come in and start buying, and then 1,2, 3 months go by. Why cannot the companies just do a reverse split to make it (the value) as it should be? If i am not mistaken, this could actually happen, and a few stockbrokers i know and have talked to say that it could also. What do you guys think?

Hunt, I believe the official ISX webpage says 8/2/07 will be the first day of foreign trading. Of course we all know the track record of Iraqis when it comes to setting dates for important events. But even with that bad track record, I'm surprised there isn't more buzz around the Dinar World concerning 8/2/07. It has to be THE biggest event concerning future IQD value. It seems to me a high (1:1 or such) Re-val MUST occur before the ISX opens if it will at all. Let's say the exchange rate is 1244 at ISX open. And let's say for several months we see a good solid rise of the overall ISX index. A 1:1 Re-val at that point would cause a massive run and "sell-off" of almost all ISX stocks. It could literally crash the ISX!!! Logically it would seem that if the Re-val doesn't occur before foreign ISX investment the only way to do it afterwards would be with a Zero Lop.
8/2/07 could be THE biggest event we've seen thus far!!! All comments welcome!!!

Now, they have a chance to regain their original status, but after so many years of decimation, it will take time to put things together. You're an attorney...how long does it you take to prepare one maajor case for court and take it through to it's completion? Two years, three years?

Compare this with trying to re-establish a government, stop violence, rebuild structures, restore economic order, etc...all with several factions wanting to protect their interests. This is a monumental task and I feel the Iraqis have been doing very well to get to where they are in so short a time.

I am eagerly anticpating an RV, and occasionally get impatient with the pace that the new government is taking, but this does not make me consider them an ignorant, or 'clueless' people. The fact that they are hashing out all this to the degree they are tells me they are very careful in protecting their future...to translate a desire for a quick rv into a false judgement of the people going through terrible ordeal is non-productive.

I feel the Iraqis should be praised for their efforts, encouraged to accelerate their attainment of solid resolutions and in the future,I believe we will see that these people may once again rise up to be an honorable and prosperous nation.

No offense, 'wiz, just felt that your above post (and some others lately) did not reflect the kind of intelligent thinking I had read from you in the past.
theyre less than clueless because of their backwards thinking. they are stuck in their religous beliefs and would rather kill than be peaceful. it has always been this way with these people and it will always be. a rv wont bring enlightenment-just more guns. this of course is just an overly broad generalization.
