Thanks Neno. That was exactly my thought. There alot of heavy hitters with deep pockets that "will not" let this thing fail.

A comparison between these two countries isn't a good comparison until we take into account the respective population statistics, per capita income, stability, etc...what happened with Kuwait, if it did happen that is, doesn't necessarily mean it would apply to Iraq or even happen the same way...jmo
didnt kuwait re-peg theirs. they didnt do a full re-val but rather used the sdr and pegged higher. we are seeing iraq reval while climbing through the wto and such. kuwait didnt need to do any of this so i thought since they just pegged it higher. at least thats what i remember hearing the 20th time this question was asked. kuwait didnt reval they re pegged.
IMHO, that is the sad part of all this. One country that has no worries and lives well and the other with more wealth only thinking of killing each other. There is more money then they could spend in a lifetime and yet it is not enough.
I am still holding out hope that they can pull it all together and turn their lives and living styles around for the better.

There is one difference that nobody has appeared to have touched on and that is Al Queda. It is ever present with an agenda to turn Iraq into an Islamic republic and therefore a fascist theocracy. A franchise on terrorism is what a British expert called AQ. From their viewpoint they are waging Jihad and until that terribly difficult problem can be solved stability in Iraq is way off.
The ordinary Iraqi people want peace as much as the rest of us but AQ has networks everywhere and are so full of hatred that they will stop at nothing to gain what they desire most. Do you really believe that suicide bombers are sane? What you believe is irrelevant because the 'children of Islam' do not care! Outside of Iraq AQ target anything that is an metaphor of the West, hence why atrocities like Bali gave them so much joy.
Naturally we want a RV else we would not be here but Iraq is almost unique. If any country needed a secular Messiah right now it is Iraq. Someone who could motivate the people to drive out AQ, who would have the intellect to inspire them to better things - God knows the poor creatures have had hell for decades.
I suggest that if you have time look up in a good enclopedia the difference between a Sunni and Shiite, their beliefs are far closer than say Protestant and Catholic and yet they cannot reconcile with one another and this is why AQ are winning. They prey on the weaknesses of an impoverished and (often) ill educated people to do their dirty work ,no doubt aided and abetted by Iran who (imo) becomes more dangerous by the day.
For all of us to become prosperous by a RV would be good, but if only the Iraqi people could find lasting peace soon, and the killings and torturing stop. The comparison to Kuwait is erroneous and I feel, not think, that it will be a long time before Iraq achieves economic stability and the kind of wealth that permeates from UAE and Kuwait. The saddest thing is that Iraq has so many natural resources that with the right guidance it could so easily become another Dubai, if only....

Also about that time, I heard , from him that he knew of some "high ranking government officials" that had bought $100 million dinar.
Yawn.
I apologize but if I had a dime for every heavy hitter, CEO, or high ranking government official that was supposedly 'stocking up' on dinar (supposedly because they know something we don't) I'd already be rich. Also, I've been reading the forums for at least three years and there have been many theories and suppositions that have slowly migrated into broadly accepted 'psuedo-facts'.....one of them being the one about how all the 'big boys' are going to buy everything up if it RV's too low. Please....wishful thinking.
i think Iraqi dinar is doing pretty good considering
that there is a war going on there with so much violence and there oil production hasn't even started yet.
i think Kuwait and other countries are going to help Iraq get on its feet
as far as business development and industry goes.
the fact that most of the oil industry is gonna be privatized worries me tho
to many companies and governments have there dirty little paws into the
oil and future and wealth of iraq and dinar may never get as high as we hope it will.
this is my main concern with the dinar but i'm still very optimistic about the whole thing
Good point,
No doubt the two really are quite different and Kuwait was stable before attack, so it only reasoned that once they were given back their country, they would see a full restoration of economy and Kuwait dinar value. It took a few years, but hey, we are use to waiting.
With Iraq, and of course the terrorism, I am amazed we have come as far as we have in similar time frame. Iraq was a mess before Saddam, and it is will be a mess after Saddam, which we all have a first hand knowledge on at this point.
What is obvious is we are seeing progress even though terrorist bombs are going off daily killing hundreds ever month. We see there is now a decrease in Iraqi killings, but higher U.S. killings, and that is what the increased surge and pressure has resulted in to date, but this is progress from the Iraqi's view. We are closer than ever, and that is enough for me. (g)
I will just put my winning lottery ticket under my pillow and sleep soundly, for I know my financial future will be free from debt and stress, so I sleep very soundly these last few years knowing what value will be of dinar some day soon. I could care less when it happens, as long as I know it will. All about how you handle it, and patience is the lesson we all need to learn at sometime in our lives.
Good luck and health to all, Mike
