to use an analogy, say for example if you are slightly out of shape, you could choose one of two goals: 1 ) get fit and strong, keep getting stronger or:
2) lose weight
1) is a positive goal, that you can get excited about, and will make 2) happen while going for it anyway... put on lean muscle, and you will lose the fat around it. guaranteed. get fit cardiovascular, and in the process, you will lose all your fat. especially when you combine the two, and any good excersie program should.
2) will work, short-term, but do two -ves really make a positive? not in the long term. people with this mentality will eventually put the weight back on again. they wont maintain over a 5 year period.
same for say your 1 mil new wealth. your goal could be 1) to get fit and healthy, keep getting stronger, ie, live of the interest of the 1 mil, and invest further (intelligently and carefully) to reach a goal of (say) 5 Mil over a five year period.
or 2) to "not be broke again".
going for 1) will automatically mean 2) happens, but is framed in a positive light, ensuring long-term success.
going for 2), yu will inevitably create what you are focusing on, what you dont want, being broke!!! its how the mind works. "your wish is my command" (the secet)
people, the windfall IS happening.
i would hope, you all have dreams, AND sensible plans, over a long-term outlook, for further accumulation and controlled responsible spending of your new wealth. ONLY SPEND THE INTEREST, GROW THE PRINCIPLE. REINVEST. YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MUCH MONEY!!!
MY PLAN
personally, if the reval is over 1.20 and gives me over 10mil, im straight into a PPP that guaranteees me interest of 40% per month, the principle is locked down, i dont touch it. good.
i then spend 10%, and reinvest the rest. if you haev a calculator, its quite impressive to play with the figures. put a smile on the dial:)
now, if the reval is smaller, and i need to grow my money to get to the 10M mark, i will trade forex (responsibly, and following a strict risk managed trading plan AND a signal service with 1 years 90% winning trades history already), live only off the interest, 10%, and reinvest the rest.
my first goal is 100 Billion, so no, im not buying an island straight off the bat, or a chopper, or a boat, unless of course it GUARANTESS a better return than any other option, and with less risk.
i may buy a recording studio, because music is my passion, that can pay for itself by renting out to other Bands than mine as well.
hope this helps anyone. its just my example. you need your own version. you dont have to share it here, as long as you know.
and yeah, Neno, round last September, i had no plan in concrete at all, and it seemed like reval about to hit. i was shaking like a leaf too. could hardly breathe. i was afraid, deeply. could i trust myself not to spend it all on crack and hookers?!!!
now i have a plan, i am calm, yet excited, that is all. calmly excited.
i have faith in god, and know i deserve this, and will spend/manage it wisely.
its a big responsibilty. BRING IT ON!!!
I have personally gone stupidly through sizable amounts of money in my life, just spilled through my fingers.
This time, nothing is spent but the interest it makes.
I'm figuring 6% interest, is my spending power. This way, you will always have it. The principal will always make you more money, but as soon as you spend that, well your broke again. It's also a good policy to save at least 10% for growth. Good Luck to us all.

That is the way to go.
My Plan is to:
1. Live off the interest, reinvest in mutual funds, and try to keep the same lifestyle (people can smell money) you can live like a king on this new budget.
2. Keep the wealth a secret from family and friends, for they will hunt you down and never let up. (Well, mine anyway) Be generous, but keep it real.
3. Make yourself hard to reach. Travel, travel, travel!
