That is a great explanation/theory of what is holding up the Dong R/V.

Agreed I also give some merit to the idea of them waiting for Iraq to some degree as to cut speculators winning from both investments.

As far as lop is concerned, I don't believe that will be the course of action. From what I can find out with the acceptance of art.VIII and WTO, at this point stability in the worlds eye is key. As the dynamics of the economy require and as the strength of the Dong increases I believe they will merely remove larger notes and add smaller notes.

With all that cash, appreciation should be on the horizon. I'm hoping for a double-dipping sensation. So I hope she delays her move until I can stake a better position after the dinar RV's. At that point a little appreciation becomes a lot.
Ward: I've looked into the Dong and haven't come away with the conclusion that it will rise in value. The articles I've read state that the government actually does not want their currency to appreciate. I get the feeling that there a re a lot of people who think that just because a currency os low in value, it has to rise, and this isn't true.
True, that the Dong was higher at one time, but I haven't found any soild info to lead me to think it will appreciate anytime soon.

What makes you feel it will appreciate simply because there is a lot of investment interest going into the country?

The dinar on the other hand...I am very sure of its potential.
    My sentiments also.

It wasn't so much the high investment alone, but the reported idea [in a news article] that the state bank governor was finding difficult to contain the rate. Plus signning on to article VIII also means playing by rules of the agreement. I'm not saying it will rise a lot but a penny or two is not out of the question. If they are really going to participate in a global economy, then her people are going to need to have an ability to but things as well.

every country who revalues their currency always says "No way" just before they do it. China, Japan etc. Vietnam my be resistent however they seem to want to play by the rules more than China does so it's a matter of time. i have no idea when but the economic powerhouses in the far east have RV'd and Vietnam is often referred to as an up and coming tiger. like I said I bought some for now but It's my opinion she will rise in time.

I have no idea of the validity of the double-dipping idea but if she should delay and we RV I'll throw some cash into that pot and let her simmer.
It seems that the state insists, or preserve the value of the Iraqi dinar 148 against the dollar ...Monetary value of the Iraqi dinar must revert to the previous level, or at least to acceptable levels as it is in the Iraqi neighboring states [ MOF Sept 2006]

High RV is like Coke; it’s the real thing baby!

I think you made a wise decision by investing in the Dong.
These ventures are ground-floor stuff and there is nothing wrong with a little diversity to ensure success! If one does not R/V, the other one surely will. (IMO)
