Default Non dinar related a question

Does anyone here have knowledge about imperfections on coins? My daughter found a 1978 nickel, the heads side has an x boldly stamped on the neck?

First of all - when you have a question like this, you need to be more specific - I'm assuming this is a US nickel? I asked a coin dealer friend of mine and he said there is no such coin. Either you're misreading it, or somebody stamped it on there. He said that under the base of the neck, there should be a "FF" (it was hard to hear on the phone - one or both of those could have been "S") and, to the right of that, an "S", or a "D".

Are you sure of the date? Can you take a picture?

It is definitely an x stamped right on the neck, not under, it's u.s....i figured somebody must have stamped it, but just wanted to make sure my girl didn't find a coin worth a kazillion dollars!

yes sure of the date, and no i am not misreading it, how that's possible i dunno, i can take picture, but i'll wait till my son gets home, i never have luck downloading the blasted thing. The X is deeply stamped, not just surface, not sure how hard it is to stamp a coin, but i figured somebody must have done it when they had it in their possession.
