Default Here Is What I've Heard: Can Anyone Confirm??

Here is what I've heard (true or not...who knows): Has anyone else heard anything to confirm or to deny this:

"...the re-setting of the exchange rate which had set to be announced on the start of this new week was postpone due, in large part, to the expectation of massive anti-american/anti-government demostrations that were to be held on the holiday (which the government has now cancelled and made it a normal workday -earlier today)...there were segiments within the government & CBI who felt that to announce now would be seen as a sign of weakess and thus had to be (again) postponed to a more apporiate date in the future...as not to be tained..."

Again, I do not know the actual truth of the above as no one seems to want to confirm anything....

NOTE: No links but, have been told this in a PM from Jordan and it was confirmed verbally but, I still consider it to be only a rumour...or a rumour mixed with other(s) personal spin or thoughts. WHATCHA SAY???

Interesting Fred, with the news coming out today about more Oil contracts being negotiated with different countries and the news about the Holiday being cancelled I would be watching the news to see what comes out in the next couple of days. I honestly believe we are waiting for the HCL to be ratified by parliament before anything can be done.

Seems the way the story is unfolding (with the help of several reports from CNN/Fox/MSNBC & other cable news reports to fill in the blanks...)

Seems that the government had been working a deal to incooperate Muqtada al-Sadr's forces into a para-military units within the army...maybe some into the police forces (civil defence forces)...then, we (the Americans) tried to kill him (he claims or arrest him claims the Americans) in the series of raids on his headquarters and offices (also people in his organization said that we were working to turn some of his top people in a kind of internal coup - shacked paralment members of his group...maybe) ...And now, he has called all the nation to rise up on this (American-Made) Holiday (which he calls "our day of shame...") and protest the Americans and the government they created...

OK, this is where my PM came in to play...again I DO NOT KNOW what of my first post was real and how much of it was spin in a business conversation...but, when tied into the public news coming out of the region it does make a lot of sense...

I don't know so I posted this info...I hope!!! that someone will be able to disprove...I had been hoping to retire this week. I posted this for DocDave first as I have had some really nice conversations with him and I wanted to maybe let him know that there were other powers in play and, then, it was posted in the RV Posting just as Nemo closed it...so, I moved it to its own post to see if you all could take a look into this for me...

    TIA

    Fred

PS: My feel is that we may need to wait, watch the size, violence of today's demonstrations...if they are contained...small in size and semi-peacefull...the impression I got from my PM would be rescheduled before the meetings in Geneva for WTO BUT, if these events today get out of control then...who knows...because all the government's efforts to incooperate these groups may well go back to square one...I pray not!!!

"...honestly believe we are waiting for the HCL to be ratified by parliament before anything can be done."

Actually if you read the actual act there are several escape clauses that are built in:

The first allows the Oil Minister to sign exploritory contracts with companies like the Cresent Deal reported today.
"...An official at the UAE 's Crescent Petroleum Company announced that the company has finalized a 10-month study on oil exploration in Iraq jointly with Iraqi officials..."

More importantly, the act spells out that if not passed by Parliment by 31 May 2007 then the Oil Ministry incooperation with the Prime Minister will be able act in the "collective good" of the nation (I forget now what subparagraph of the act) in negotiations or thus, in signing oil contracts (I believe that they can do this under the emergency power's act (Marshall Law)...

So, if not inacted by 31 May 2007 they can still go into the oil conferences and start signing deals...good or bad...so the Parilment better realize that if they do not act by 31 May then the PM will and will not need their approval...SMART Ohh???

I can't confirm or deny but IMHO, if this is actually true - and they delayed a RV/announcement due to "massive anti-american/anti-government demostrations" then things are never gonna get done. If the GoI & CBI think all the stars are going to align perfectly then they must be smokin some nice green herb.
A teacher was giving a lesson on the circulation of the blood. Trying to make the matter clearer, she said, "Now, class, if I stood on my head, the blood, as you know, would run into it, and I would turn red in the face... then why is it that while I am standing upright in the ordinary position the blood doesn't run into my feet?"
A little fellow shouted, "Cause your feet ain't empty."

You are watching CNN. They always try to make everything in Iraq look bad. The fact is today, that contrary to what was projected, Sadr's followers held a peaceful march in support of the sovereignty of Iraq.

Surprise: Sadri trend Muqtada in Iraq

Thanks....that is the type of confirmations that I was looking for....that is a very good sign as it had been feared that these protests would become violent, anti-government and bring a further setback the government's hard work to intregrate his milita into the mainstream forces...

Is there any way to get the article translated?

Maybe...this may well mean (if this holds) a recommittment (as per Danny Dinar's info stated) on the government to re-instate the cancelled announcement on the adjustment in the currency rates.
