Question/ Challenge to the naysayers

I have been taking into account all the recent news and laws. At the same time I am trying to ignore all rumors. After some thinking I came to a question. It's a question for those who doubt this investment. To be honest I feel that way on occasion. The question that came to mind was this... With everything that Iraq wants to do and have done, between the FIL, the HCL, the ISX... What would be the point of any of these if they were going to keep a worthless currency? I do not see a point in bringing in investors if you have nothing for them to gain. Maybe I a missing something? If so please fill me and the others in.

I also have some dates. Now the oil summit is the 17-18 of April. Yet many reports say the Iraqi's will have the HCL done by the end of MAY. So I figure they can not show up to the summit with nothing. The HCL will be passed and ratified before than. It will however not be enacted until the end up MAY which could bring a revalue the latest the first -second week of JUNE.

As far as the amount of the revalue.. I have been doing some more thinking. Now the Market does not like to be surprised. I do not believe it will be the huge reval we all want. But it will have to be worth something. I believe the least will .10 us and the max will be done by simply removing 3 zeros from the RATE which currently would put it at .78 us. Then once on the forex as a tradable currency the market will dictate the true value which will result in an initial surge ( the jump start of the economy they have been mentioning)

Anyway that’s just what I was thinking about last night while I couldn't sleep. What do you all think?

How do you figure it to be a worthless currency? This is what the Iraqi people use to purchase stuff, the denominations are just higher then what you normally see around the world. I would say it is a bit undervalued but not worthless, even today you can sell a million to Chase for $720 or buy a million for $882

I think that I am glad that I am not desperate for money and have not invested more than I can afford to lose on the dinars (not insinuating that you are, just sayin'). I believe that when the r/v comes it will be more in the range of .05 to .10 and will not make a bunch of people into millionaires over night. I also would not be surprised if we are still in limbo waiting for some huge r/v 6 months from now, LOL. I firmly believe that we will make a good return on our investment but I am not kidding myself about becoming stinking rich in a heartbeat. I read the rumors and predictions for fun and give them no credit whatsoever as being accurate in any way...just fun and entertainment. Of course I hope that the r/v comes soon for the sake of the Iraqi people mainly and then those who are strapped for cash. I don't really care for myself as I have already stashed those stinky notes away with other stuff that I never look at anymore.

Your right.. in reality, the currency is not PHYSICALLY worthless. But in terms of buying power, cost of living, and investing.. yes it is quite worthless. What would be the benefit to you as investor with out the currency being worth more?? I guess you would be content to cash out now then?

The more i think about things Im starting to believe there will be no HUGE overnight RV. It would'nt make sense to do so. I would be estatic as everyone else but its not thinking logical and yes ive read all the articles and been reading them for years. For iraq to have a big surge of foriegn investment they wont just RV at 1:1 or more to the american dollar. Reason I think in my opinion is that Ok say I am a big investor I just saw that the currency of a nation that is in turmoil granted they are making small progress as the days go on, all of the sudden the currency increases hundreds of thousands of percent I would think I would hold off and see what happens for a lil bit as an investor that hasnt invested in the dinar would be kicking themselves for not investing then saying to themselves i missed the boat. Now with a low rv at say 10cents to 30 cents may fuel the market for investing even though that is thousands of a percent increase. Dollar to dinar just seems like to much of a fantasy. The only direct foriegn investment they will see if it did open at 1:1 would be the people holding dinar to reinvest it back into country. Do I make anysense to anyone....I guess its just all speculation. I guess we all will know soon within the next few months. Tank

I would like to know what effect did the drop in value of the Dinar have on Iraq? How did the people respond? Was the drop drastic? Was it overnight or was it a trickle? All I'm saying is why not an RV overnight and why would it not be a good thing? The drastic drop has been killing them; the overnight increase would not. It is hard to acccept what some feel is impossible. As we have read many times, Iraq operates differently.

i never said there was proof of small denom it would be fruitless to say otherwise what your now saying that all articles saying returning dinar back to dollar rate is wrong and that the article of small denoms is wrong do you have facts or are you just guessing?? :flame:

:ro_emote: I notice the same in your postings, you never said proof. :ro_emote: Some are growing very impatient. To us normal folks. it looks like the RV should of done happened by all the articles. But actually for a Iraqi, since Nov 1st their currency has increased in value by over 13%. It is not the best to us, but for them, hey, 13% is better than it was in thier mind at this point and time, possibly?

Patience is a virtue. I am waiting and will be smiling when it all happens!

Danny, I'm just wondering why you bought into this investment? If anyone who is invested is expecting 50 - 100% return, you're in the wrong investment. You can make those kind of returns in the stock market over the next several years.

I consider this investment akin to venture capital. Venture capitalists invest in long-shots for the BIG payday. They know the risk is there, but they also know if it hits, it hits big. Just doesn't make sense otherwise. Anyway, this JMHO. :ro_emote:

To me it seems like your saying its a fact. Putting it in all caps like you know.
Yes there are articles of it saying they wish to return to previous levels and wish to be on par with surrounding countries. But with that whose to say they wont do things in chunks 10 cent then 25 cents then 1.00. Its all specultion we shall see. Alls Im saying is yes there are some positive articles about them making the dinar stong and returning to normal, but whose to say it will be overnight. In my opinion it would be a shock to the economy. But a big increase at first say 10 cents to the dollar and then a few jumps down the road we will see it be at par with the surrounding countries. The question will be will you have the guts to hold out and how desperate for cash are you. Just my opinion Tank:eek:

dt, i'm not a betting man, but if you look at the other oil rich countries in the area, i would say somewhere between .26 and 1.30. if they cbi is actually removing dinar from circulation, then closer to 1.30. if not, then closer to .26.

The reason it was in caps is that we know there are several denominations that are not known yet. We have read that 14 denoms were printed, so one only has to assume the ones yet announced are smaller, not larger denominations. So it is pretty good chance these are the smaller notes, right? (g)

Agreed. I previously posted this one time before but here is that tid bit on the serial numbers used on the dinar and how it indicates lower denoms are waiting in the wings:

The new and much anticipated issue of notes from Iraq has been released into circulation on 15 October 2003. There are currently six notes on issue. They are in the denominations of 25,000, 10,000, 5,000, 1000, 250 and 50 dinars. (The serial number prefixes use the 'abjad' sequence of the Arabic alphabet, but the first letter, alif, is not used. This suggests that a lower denomination may yet appear, or was considered but ultimately not issued.)

I added the Currency Link in My Siggy, for awhile. Great info site on the Currency Notes, Thanks. Funny thing is all I ever see is Paper Currency. Never no Coins Mentioned.
