I made this little chart in Excel the other day just to see where Iraq and other countries currency ranked against the US dollar. I tool all the figures from yahoo finance currency converter and all the banknote denominations from wikipedia. Neither of the two, the most reliable of sources, but hey, it did what I was looking for.
My personal opinion is that the dinar cannot and will not RV until lower denominations are circulated. Look at the countries listed and their value against the dollar. There are only 3 worth more than the dollar, a couple are very close to par, and more that are very, very far from it. Notice the denominations in circulation, it seems that the countries with the smaller denoms have a closer par.
"Hey man, you got change for 25 thousand?" Its just not realistic to me to RV without smaller notes. I dont care how much oil they have. Bash me if you must.

Hey DanielJay, don't think anyone is likely to bash you as it seems to be a general concencus of opioion that an rv is dependant on lower denoms being released. Thanks for the effort you put in - every little bit helps.

I honestly do not know the answer to that question. If you choose #1, then you'll have people buying in mass speculation. Same with #2. With #3 and #4 im not sure if thats enough time for people to convert their large bills into smaller ones.
Your post has me totally confused now, not in a bad way, but now i cant figure out what could happen. Im stuck between a rock and a hard place now.

I pose another question...
How long did it take for the new Iraqi Government to abolish the old Sadam Dinar and replace it with the new Dinar?
Print, ship, and distribute?
Furthermore, how long did the citizens have to bring in the Swiss/old dinar for the exchange?
Lastly, do you think that they already have the lower denoms printed? Possibly shipped? Ready to go?
If we knew these answers, it might shed light on which choice would be best!
My HOPES are on #3, but my mind says #2.
Let's have none of this...
Thanks,
The Court Jester

Good show!
Good show there, Court Jester; your father must be really proud to call you
son! I am really sure that he had never changed his mind and today he
expresses that feeling with great joy! Concur with the information below
and in the style in which it was presented, most excellent and with reserved
posture! Carry on! This Rol Cub is a most favorable place to gain knowledge
and present ideas for others to comment; enjoy yourself!

which makes more sense and which would have less effect on speculation?????
Pippyman,
I like your line of reasoning. I will have to go with #4 and the reason is this. If the currency value is not there to support the usage of the lower denoms they will be destroyed or disguarded. So I say untill there is a use for them they should stay in the banks where they are. Also, It's my opinion, that the same low denom notes that were used pre invasion without Saddams mug, will be used again. They are already in the banks.
