Default 10K Eid just dawned on me!!!

I made a post awhile back (Eid following Ramadan) about an article that I had translated which stated that the Iraqi people were disappointed by not receiving their 10K and were questioning if they would have to wait until next Eid holiday. Well it just dawned on me we are in the next Eid holiday (the real one) and it ends on the 7th. Could they be getting the 10K on the 8th?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Did the 10,000 Dinar handout ultimately come to pass? All I've found is speculation about it and a document with a poor translation.

A reval rate of 1000:1 would equal a paltry $10 handout
    100:1 would equal a $100 giveaway
    10:1 is $1000
and the golden ticket is the 1:1 reval at $10,000

Bush was on CNN today talking about a big and secret plan that will be revealed for Iraq next week, coinciding with the reopening of the CBI. With all the hubbub around this new Iraq policy, one idea that keeps popping to mind is that the Americans are planning a direct cash infusion to the economy in the form of either a grant or a loan repayable with oil revenue. In some respects we've all been speculating on dinar based upon the value of this resource, This would have the benefit of increasing the trade value of the dinar and make Iraq the official supplier of American oil.

The question is, which number will the reval land closer to? I think the handout, if true, is the key. The victims of hurricane Katrina were handed, no questions asked, a $2,000 Visa card in the wake of that disaster. For the Iraqis to be given a handout worth too much less then that would certainly be insulting. I think the new value will have to be at leat 100:1 for the handout to have any effect whatsoever on the economy, and closer to the 10:1 number to be fair the the Iraqi people trying to pick up the pieces. This is a global economy and Iraq will need to start importing goods to rebuild, this simply can't happen without the dinar being worth much more than it currently is.

Good thinking, i'm pretty sure that we'll see a big change on the 8th.
