It'll Never Happen.
"Imagine the average Iraq citizen instantly becoming a USD millionaire, and then using these riches to flee the country and live like royalty elsewhere in the region.
Or the range of weapons that the insurgents could then acquire with their billions of dinar/USD.
Or the fact that individual currency speculators holding in some cases billions of dinar, now magically worth billions of USD, would have a net worth almost equal to Iraq's entire GDP (estimated to be ~94 billion for 2005).
Ridiculous."

Good-bye.

Do you understand that the "average Iraqi" doesn't have piles of dinar under the mattress, they're are living day to day. Do you really think you could put any money back if you made $400-$500 a week
The insurgents are either A. poor(see first paragraph) or B. well funded from an outside source. Either way, if the people of Iraq are prospering they will have more of an incentive to help stop the violence.
Do you honestly think that the moment we cash (U.S., U.K., etc.) the currency will be shipped back to Iraq? More than likely it would be held by the bank which handles the exchange on speculation of a higher value. That currency not held by the bank would probably go to the fed where it could be traded later for oil and other goods.Last edited by lndmn_01; 29-09-2006 at 06:25 AM. I was not aware that Iraqi people had millions of Dinar in their possesion!!!
The poor Iraqi citizen is lucky to have a 50 Dinar note in hand, wow your right he might just up and leave with his speculated 1 : 1 which turns into 50 USD.
The average Iraqi citizen is lucky to have a spare 100,000 Dinar laying around at most, remember the average Iraqi citizen gets paid between 500.000 - 600,000 a month in Dinar, so in all they would actually be very fortunate to have an extra 100,000 Dinar laying around... I mean come on now, use some common sense before posting...
What do you really think they could have left of that after paying for food, necessities, and what ever bills they might have...
There are tons of other forums who would love to join in with ya, so please EXIT and go join your buddies else where...

Thats simply not true... The CBI says the Iraqis have 10 trillion dinar in circulation. Thats primarily among the 25 million people who live there.
~400,000 IQD per person or about $272 USD.

In war torn regions when people don't know when their next meal is, they don't live paycheck to paycheck. They are smart enough to save money, because if they don't, they will likely starve in lean times.
