Default Newdow Files Suit to Take National Motto Off Currency

Newdow Files Suit to Take National Motto Off Currency
Michael Newdow, who has already filed a suit to take "under God" out of the Pledge of Allegiance, is now suing to remove our national motto from our currency.

Newdow told the ACLU of Oklahoma that the national motto on U.S. currency is a violation of the separation of church and state. He is offended because he is an atheist. He wants to use the Federal courts to make his atheism the official religion of America.

Newdow filed in the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals which recently ruled that judges, not parents, have the final say in what will be taught school children concerning sex education. These same liberal judges supported Newdow and ruled that the phrase "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance was unconstitutional. That suit was dismissed due to a technicality so Newdow sued again.

The 9th U.S. Circuit is expected to agree with Newdow. The case will then go to the U.S. Supreme Court for final action.

Help us secure one million signatures on the petition below to stop Newdow. Remember that only one person-Madalyn Murray O'Hair-was able to get prayer in schools banned. We must not allow one person-Newdow-to get our national motto removed from our currency by our silence.

During the last session of Congress, Representative Chip Pickering introduced a constitutional amendment to guarantee the right to use and recite the motto and the Pledge of Allegiance. Your petition will encourage Rep. Pickering to re-introduce his constitutional amendment in the present session of Congress and send a message to the liberal judges of the 9th U.S. Circuit.

Please act quickly, and forward this to friends and family.

Companies Ban 'Christmas,' Not Worried About Backlash
Several retailers have joined in the push to ban the use of "Christmas" in their in-store promotions and retail advertising. The new push to ban "Christmas" and replace it with "Happy Holidays," "Season's Greetings," etc. is gaining ground with several retailers participating.

So far, the list includes Kmart, Sears, Kohl's, Home Depot, Lowe's, Target, JC Penney, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Kroger, Office Max, Walgreens, Staples, BJ's, and Dell.

Update: Lowe's has removed all "Holiday Tree" signs and now refer to ALL trees at "Christmas Trees."

A Petition To Stop The Ban On The Use Of "Christmas" By Major Retailers

I am offended by the move to ban "Christmas" by major retailers. I care enough to take into consideration the actions of any company which bans "Christmas" when I do my shopping. If they don't care if they offend me by failing to recognize the Reason for the season, there are other companies that do with whom I can do business.

Although this is a general forum, this probably belongs in the Politics forum. Oh, and by the way, I agree this guy needs a new hobby.

i personally don't think it qualifies for a discussion let alone a ploitical discussion. Fact:

1.america's official religion is christianity and the majority, although non pracitsing, identify themselves as christians.

    2. the founding fathers identified themselves as christians.

why should a christian country bend towards atheism or other religions(atheism is a religion) WITHOUT the approval of the public. It shoudl not be up to the court. if anything, there should be a referendum and the public shoudl be allwoed to decide.

if the majority of the public agrees to this proposal by newdow then and only then the relevant changes need apply in accordance with democracy.

if it takes a religious occassion or prayer to be offended then this guy should live in north korea or china where teh official religion is atheism.

im not a christian however it only takes common sense to realise that diverse religions and cultures should be appreciated and not BANNED. this act to ban without consulting the general public is at the very least uncivilised.

Unfortunately, our present day Government has proven more and more, the "majority" are not the ones that make decisions. Money! Follow the money seems to be the key. And, like the old saying says, "the squeeky wheel gets the grease!" Christians need to start "squeeking" a little louder!!

I have nothing against atheists... been one for years & it's usually a sign of a rational scientific, mind. (which I don't condemn)

What pisses me off is people who are offended by demonstration of other creeds to the point that they do such stupid things as lawsuits or even worse terrorist attacts... By behaving in this manner and allowing such things, the law is only promoting intollerance, it's expression and the idea that being intollerant is your right!

Just give a suggestion if you don't agree... but if you can't accept diversity there's something wrong with YOU not the others.

If I had to ban something, I would ban people who try to limit other people's expression of faith, belief and opinion.

    Can't we just get along?!

Wondering if I could sue him for his demonstration of Atheistic Beliefs!

    mtdavis,

it has been more than 70 years since the governments of hte world STOPPED working in the interest of the public. international politics proves that division and disharmony is not only profitable but also ASSURES a longer term in the office. if u are a politician what would you want? harmony (and get replaced easily) or chaos (fear forces people to depend on you).

people are too busy today to actively voice their opinion and when they finally do, it ends up being violent and innocent people getting hurt. unfortunately, there is no vocie or act of moderation bcos today's society us all about independence instead of inter-dependence.

bcos we have been brainwashed that we are independent, we will never achieve freedom reagardless of what legislations are in place. in the past, people didn't need legislation to have freedom. they fought for it bcos they knew the society at large will benefit. today, we only care about thsoe who are close to us when we should be concerned about humanity.
