Default A Request To Christians Only

    Hello,
Please, if you logged into this out of curiousity and are not Christian, may I ask you to go back and ignore this thread. This is not a request to start a debate. It is a thread designed to reach Christians who would be interested in sharing spiritual experiences with me and of course, with other members.
Please understand I am not discriminating. I have nothing against anyone. Just want to keep this on focus. Later when more posts from others are added, I will not object to anyone else coming in to read them. But, please, please no arguments.
So, now to the Christians who come into this forum, I have a request. Many times in my life I have had an experience where the Bible, which I consider the Word of God, has ministered to me in different hours of need. I am sure the same has happened to you. Therefore, I would like it very much if you would either PM me or just share it here in this thread.
I am interested in ONLY direct guidance you received from the Scriptures. I know there are many experiences we have in our Christian walk which are not directly related to the Bible. However, please keep your related incidents to Scriptual guidance only.

Thank you much and I'm looking forward with pleasure to reading your accounts.

    In Christ,
    Grace McDonald

    Hi Grace,

Here are some of the best scriptural resources I use. The commentaries and theme based DVDs by Chuck Missler have proven to be very helpful. Chuck Missler really knows his stuff. Check out these links when you have a chance.

    Hi Caine,
Thank you for your response. However, I am not asking for references or sources. I want just candid reports of times in one's life when the Scriptures have been a source of guidance and encouragment. For instance here is an experience I once had that was a true life saver.
I had been left with 3 teenage children to finish rearing. A very formidable job, I can tell you. I went to the Word because I needed strength and guidance. My oldest son was proving a real handful and was getting into drugs and questionable company. I was frantic, I began seeking a solution. I began to consider putting him into some branch of the service although he was only 17. I asked three friends whom I trusted what they thought. All three said they felt it was a good answer to our need. I sat down with my Bible in front of me and closed my eyes to pray a bit. My prayer was, "Lord, I have the input of these friends and I love them and trust them, but they're not God, so I need to know what You think. A Bible reference was impressed on my mind. I turned to it and this is what it said, "He will die for lack of instruction and in the greatness of his folly he will astray and be lost." Proverbs 5:23 Wow! It couldn't be clearer than that!
Of course, I knew that when he turned 18 he would be sent to Vietnam unless the war ended before then, but I thought I would be able to handle that when it happened. Well, it happened, and I wasn't able to handle it. I actually thought I was going to die, it hit me so hard. Again I had put my Bible on the table before me and had closed my eyes to ask the Lord's guidance before reading. I had just randomly opened it, and when I looked down, my eyes fell on this verse: "Refrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears, for you work shall be rewarded and shall return from the 's land of the ememy. And there is hope in your future," declares the Lord, "and your children shall return to their own territory." Was that clear, or what?
Okay, anyone responding, that is the gist of what I would like to have put in here. I do not want to make it a doctrinal or controversial issue. Just candid reports of your own experience.

    Hope that clears it up.

    Thanks for your input.

I've never had the type of experience you are describing. It is probably because I began studying the Bible at an early age. God will provide such guidance to His "babes in Christ" but we are to grow. Just as you feed your baby when he is small, but you expect him to start feeding himself as he grows. As you mature, you commit more and more of the Bible to memory and in a time of need, God brings applicable scripture to mind.

Nearly 30 years ago, I had probably the most dramatic experience. I was talking with a visitor to my Sunday School. She confided that she did not think she could ever be married as she was terrified of all men because of some things her stepfather had done. God brought I John 4:18 to my mind. "There is no fear in love; perfect love casteth out fear..." I told her that was how she would know what man God wanted her to marry. She might continue to be afraid of other men, but there would be one man she would be totally unafraid of as his love for her would cast out her fear of him. She hit "cloud nine" and it completely changed her personality. To make a long story short, she became engaged within six weeks and has been happily married ever since.

There have been many times when I needed guidance and God brought a scripture to mind. However, He cannot bring a scripture to mind if it is not already in your mind which is why daily prayer and Bible reading are so important. They are to the spiritual life what combing your hair and brushing your teeth are to the physical life.

    Thank you Maxie,
That is what I wanted. Your experience is certainly leading from the Word of God. It doesn't matter whether the actual Bible is there when the scritpure becomes real to us. It is His word regardless.

Thanks again and blessings to you,

James Goll: "Praying Down Supernatural Encounters"
With Articles By Bruce Steinbaum & Alan Wyatt

MINISTRY AT THE ALTAR OF INCENSE

"Now it came about while he was performing his priestly service before God in the appointed order of his division, according to the custom of the priestly office, he was chosen by lot to enter the temple of the Lord and burn incense. And the whole multitude of the people were in prayer outside at the hour of the incense offering. And the angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing to the right of the altar of incense." -- Luke 1:8-11

    The Order of Progression
Zechariah was chosen to minister to the Lord.
*The people all responded as they were in prayer at the "hour of incense."
*Zechariah is now ministering at the altar of incense (prayer).
*What went up (incense/prayer) was cast back down to earth in the form of a visitation. (That which goes up must come down!)
    *
    Angelic activity is released.
    *
A proclamation of healing is made.
*Zechariah goes home, and Elizabeth is healed and gives birth to a son, a prophet named John the Baptist.

Jesus is the one who said, "If two or three agree . . ." Consider this: what if whole cities came into agreement in prayer for a visitation -- what would happen? "If two or three agree . . ." Wow! I know both of these ministries, and they did not consult with one another but with the Lord alone! But God is speaking loud and clear -- the supernatural is His way -- miracles are on the increase!

PRAYING DOWN MIRACLES -- An Article by Bruce Steinbaum

Researchers contend that 80 percent of new Christians in South Asia come to Christ as a direct result of some kind of supernatural encounter. Church planters among the Gamit people of Gujarat, India, say that membership jumped from zero to 60,000 in ten years as a result of hundreds of miraculous healings. The Chinese church is growing faster than any other in the world. In one province, 2,000 new churches were planted in three years. Why? Most observers believe the answer lies in the Chinese propensity for prayer -- a habit formed among those who have grown up with no hymnals, few Bibles, and much suffering.

In Saudi Arabia, some Christian nurses were asked to pray for a thirteen year old girl dying of leukemia. The girl was visited by the Lord one night, though she knew nothing about Jesus. The next day, she announced to her astonished parents that she had met her Healer, and the entire family is now following Christ.

The Gospel has penetrated even Islam's holiest city. In 1993, several Saudi believers conducted a prayer march around the periphery of Mecca, site of the annual Hajj or pilgrimage. They asked God to establish a church in the city and to reveal Himself to the two million truth-seeking pilgrims who visit the city every year to pay homage to Allah at the Ka'bah shrine. According to at least two sources, Jesus made a special guest appearance at the 1994 Hajj -- declaring to a group of Nigerian Moslems that He was indeed the One they were seeking.

Some Kurds reportedly have come to Christ as a result of intercessory prayer and supernatural dreams and visions. One of these new Christians was converted a few years ago in Turkish Kurdistan. An avowed atheist and the editor of an influential Marxist magazine, this man was arrested in 1981. A Christian who gave him a New Testament prayed that Jesus would reveal Himself in a series of dreams. At their next meeting, the man became a Christian and announced that Jesus is the One who cleanses sin.

In Tunis, as in other parts of the Arab world, God is employing dreams, visions, and miraculous healings to draw truth-seekers to Himself. One dramatic example of this phenomenon involved a group of Sufi Moslems in North Africa who were chanting and dancing before Allah in hopes that he might reveal himself. They say that Jesus appeared and declared that He is the true God.

According to missionaries in the region, many other people living in the isolated reaches of the Sahara Desert have reported similar visions of the Lord, and they are requesting Scriptures so they can learn more about Christ.

In Egypt, a Moslem military officer said he was visited by Jesus Christ in a dream. Upon waking, he immediately sought out Christians in his unit to see if they could provide him with a copy of God's Word. Finding only one believer in his officer corps, he quietly asked if he could borrow the man's Bible. In a manner reminiscent of Ananias' reluctant ministry to Saul of Tarsus, the Christian cautiously agreed. After several days of pouring over the Gospels, the officer became a disciple of Jesus. According to reports out of Cairo, this man has become a bold witness.

A team of Christians reported that a Pakistani Moslem recently had a dream about a Bible descending out of heaven. While he gazed at the book in amazement, the man said he heard the voice of Jesus declaring, "This is My Word -- obey it." Similar reports of dreams and visions are commonplace inside Pakistan.

Youth With A Mission leaders (a missionary group) in the Krasnodar region recently received a plea for help from one of the only Christians living among the Moslem Adegyi people. She lamented that Moslems were flooding the land with Islamic literature and warned that the time was short to reach her people. One leader in the missions group mentioned that he had dreamed about the Adegyis the night before. Realizing that these were signals from the Holy Spirit, YWAM launched a series of literature and street campaigns in the Adegyi region. As a result, a church has been planted.

In Cuba, a divine visitation of healing descended upon a small town about 40 miles outside the capital. Everyone who walked into the church there was healed. As news of this spread, people from other towns began arriving. They too were healed. Eventually, people from all over the Island were coming and being healed. This went on for six weeks. Tens of thousands were saved. Many churches were planted, and interest in the Gospel rose nationwide because everyone had heard the news. It was so powerful that even the Communist government could not deny these events. (Most of these healings were a result of laying on of hands.)

<BLOCKQUOTE TYPE=CITE style="BORDER-LEFT: #0000ff 2px solid; MARGIN-LEFT: 5px; MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 5px">"But Paul (future apostle before his conversion), threatening with every breath and eager to destroy every Christian. . . As he was nearing Damascus on this mission, suddenly a brilliant light from heaven spotted down upon him! He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, 'Paul! Paul! Why are you persecuting me?' 'Who is speaking, sir?' Paul asked. And the voice replied, 'I am Jesus, the One you are persecuting! Now get up and go into the city and await my further instructions.'" -- Acts 9:1, 3-6

"The night before he (Peter the Apostle) was to be executed, he was asleep, double-chained between two soldiers with others standing guard before the prison gate, when suddenly there was a light in the cell and an angel of the Lord stood beside Peter! The angel slapped him on the side to awaken him and said, 'Quick! Get up!' And the chains fell off his wrists! Then the angel told him, 'Get dressed and put on your shoes.' And he did. 'Now put on your coat and follow me!' the angel ordered. So Peter left the cell, following the angel." -- Acts 12:6-9</BLOCKQUOTE>

Many Argentine church leaders say that the church growth boom in this South American country is a result of "spiritual warfare" against the powers of darkness. Eduardo Lorenzo, pastor of the Adrogue Baptist Church in Buenos Aires, says his small congregation began growing rapidly in 1987, immediately after church members fasted and prayed against a demonic spirit.

"Until then, virtually no one who resided in Adrogue had ever been converted," Lorenzo says. "Now 40% of the church members are from Adrogue." His church, which was 70 years old, had never had more than 100 members, but it grew to 600 members in three years after the demon was challenged.

There are many other examples of God helping people. Space prevents printing all of them. However, you may use the following to guide you in praying for other types of miracles

Pray that God would come and perform the following miracles:
Heal the deaf, dumb, and/or blind.
    *
    Deliver the demonically possessed.
    *
    Heal those with mental problems.
    *
Raise the dead. This happened in China, where
Jesus raised a recently buried girl and sent her
    home.
    *
    Heal the crippled and lame.
    *
Nourish those who are starving to death.
    *
Visit the unsaved and tell them what church to attend and how to get there.
FROM THE LIFE OF JOHN G. LAKE

We need to see another powerful healing movement occur like that of John G. Lake. He moved in great power and was used to great effect in South Africa and much of the northwest part of the United States. The following are newspaper articles from the Spokane, Washington, secular newspaper in 1924 of a healing parade led by Reverend Lake. +++++++++++++++++*Thursday, August 7, 1924 -- HEALED BY GOD PARADE

Expect 250 members of the Church Elect to enter into what they hope will be an impressive testimony to the power of God to heal; about 250 persons, who claim to have been healed of their diseases through prayer, will parade on the downtown streets Saturday afternoon, August 16, at 3:00. A permit for the use of 50 automobiles, and a band, to parade at that time has been issued to Dr. John G. Lake, head of the Church Elect, by the city council. In speaking of the parade today, Lake said, "We believe in testifying to the power of God at every opportunity. It is not possible to get the message we have to teach before everyone. We believe that when the citizens of Spokane see this group of persons, many of them once at death's door with incurable diseases, it will be a forceful and unforgettable testimony that God does heal."

The regular Thursday night healing meeting will be held in the tents at Ash and Chelan at 8:00.
Monday, August 18, 1924 -- HEALED BY GOD PARADE

Fifty autos carry 250 persons healed by Lake's prayers. Thousands of Spokane people witnessed the unique parade of "healed" persons from the "Church Elect," when they rode through downtown streets in automobiles Saturday afternoon.

About 50 automobiles were in line Saturday, and more than 250 persons who claim to have been healed of all manner of diseases by the power of God were in the cars. The automobiles were placarded with signs which told of the diseases from which the occupants were cured.

The cures affected by the prayers of Dr. John G. Lake, according to the signs, were: nervous prostration, pneumonia, diabetes, paralysis, tuberculosis, adenoids, shingles, flu, eczema, leakage of the heart, rheumatism, and broken arches.

The feature of the parade was a delivery car containing more than a dozen children, and it bore the sign: "born painlessly" on each side. The mothers of these children had no assistance in childbirth other than prayer, they declare. Dr. John G. Lake, preceded by a band, led the parade. The cars traveled downtown streets for more than an hour.

A fitting conclusion, it would seem to the series of meetings. Yes, there still were the skeptics in the community, but the ones who were healed by God will never forget the occasion when the power of God healed them as they had the faith to believe for it.

    OUR DESPERATE RESPONSE IS NEEDED

    Repentance Needed

Some of us need to repent of our fear and prejudice against a "faith emphasis." While we need to be broken, authentic vessels, there is no substitute for bold faith. I invite you to join me in repenting of our "fear of faith" because of what we think it might look like, what others have made it look like, and our fear of what it really does look like! Faith is almost always spelled R-I-S-K!

    Let's Minister at the Altar

May the prayer movement continue to grow, and may there be a restoration of leaders and people of prayer as in the days of Zechariah. Priests (that's you!), take your place. Minister at the altar of prayer. Let the time of the incense offering come forth.

    Expect!

Let's believe God to pour down supernatural encounters, healings, and miracles, as He has done in times past. Let's expect an invasion of Holy Spirit activity in response to our prayer invitations!

Blessings to each of you this beautiful fall season!

    In Christ Jesus!

Two hundred years ago, this verse was burned into the hearts of Moravian refugees in tiny Herrnhut in eastern Germany under Count von Zinzendorf. They committed themselves to restore this "Watch of the Lord" through 24 hours of unbroken prayer and intercession that continued for more than 100 years! God is out to restore the lost art of intercession, and He is calling His warriors to once again mount the "Watch of the Lord."

When God's people send "up" the incense of prayer and worship, God will send "down" supernatural power, anointing, and acts of intervention. Jim Goll paints a picture of prophetic clarity and urgency in this anointed work that sounds God's clarion call to His Church: This is the season for us to mount the walls with prayer and praise - and restore the lost art of intercession!*

    Hi all;

I might like to add about supernatural encounters. Did you Know The prophet Daniel was a Magician. His name was Beltashazzsar which means "Lord of the Sun".

In Daniel 4:4-9; he was known as the HEAD of the Magic practicing priests of Babylon. He was able to cast and uncast spells such as in untying knots ( a form of witchcraft today ). A wise person is a witch or if a male like Daniel a warlock. The word witch means wise one.He would not be able to be a head magician as far as the king is concerned if he could nopt weild any magical power. He was a prophet - in that he could interpret dreams ( a Mantis ) and predict the future ( a Seer ).

    Daniel 4: 4-9 says -

4 “I, Nebuchadnezzar, happened to be at ease” in my house and flourishing in my palace.” 5 There was a dream that I beheld, and it began to make me afraid. And there were mental images upon my bed and visions of my head that began to frighten me. 6 And from me an order was being put through to bring in before me all the wise men of Babylon, that they might make known to me the very interpretation of the dream.’
7 “At that time the magic-practicing priests, the conjurers, the Chalde’ans and the astrologers” were entering; and I was saying before them what the dream was, but its interpretation they were not making known to me. 8 And at last there came in before me Daniel, whose name is Belteshaz’zar according to the name of my god and in whom there is the spirit of the holy gods; and before him I said what the dream was:
9 “0 Bel•teshaz’zar the chief of the magic-practicing priests, because I myself well know that the spirit of the holy gods is in you’ and that there is no secret at all that is troubling you, tell the visions of my dream that I have beheld and its interpretation.”

    And again in Chapter 5:7-13 it says;

7 The king was calling out loudly to bring in the conjurers, the Chal•de’ans and the astrologers. The king was an swering and saying to the wise men of Babylon: “Any man that will read this writing and show me its very interpretation, with purple he will be clothed, with a necklace of gold about his neck, and as the third one in the kingdom he will rule.”
8 At that time all the wise men of the king were coming in, but they were not competent enough to read the writing itself or to make known to the king the interpretation. 9 Consequently King Belshaz’zar was very much frightened and his complexion was changing within him; and his grandees were perplexed.10 As regards the queen, because of the words of the king and his grandees she entered right into the banqueting hall. The queen answered and said: “0 king, keep living even to times indefinite.” Do not let your thoughts frighten you, nor let your complexion be changed. 11 There exists a capable man in your kingdom in whom there is the spirit of holy gods; and in the days of your father illumination and insight and wisdom like the wisdom of gods were found in him, and King Nebunez’zar your father himself set him up as chief of the magic-practicing priests, the conjurers, the Chalde’ans [ the astrologers ] your father, O king; 12 forasmuch as an extraordinary spirit and knowledge and insight to interpret dreams and the explanation of riddles and the untying of knots had been found in him, in Daniel, whom the king himself named Belte.shaz’zar. Now let Daniel himself be called, that he may show the very interpretation."

And so it makes me wonder why Daniel would allow himself to practice such Occultic arts when Dueteronomy 18:9-14 clearly states that those under the law should not practice magic or any form of Divination ? The text states:

9 “When you are entered into the land that Jehovah your God is giving you, you must not learn to do according to the detestable things of those nations.’ 10 There should not be found in you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, anyone who employs divination, a practicer of magic’ or any one who looks for omens” or a sorcerer,” 11 or one who binds others with a spell or anyone who consults a spirit medium or a professional foreteller of events, or anyone who inquires of the dead. 12 For everybody doing these things is something detestable to Jehovah, and on account of these detestable things Jehovah your God is driving them away from before you. 13 You should prove yourself faultless with Jehovah your God.14 ‘For these nations whom you are dispossessing used to listen to those practicing magic and to those who divine; but as for you, Jehovah your God has not given you anything like this.

Daniel is guilty of all of the highligted parts in Dueteronomy 18. Technically Jehovah should put him to death for violation of the mosaic law. Jesus even quoted Daniel in Matthew 24:15; so he had respect for his writings and powers of prediction.

As Jesus could raise the dead with Lazurus ( necromancy or ressurection ) walk on water( levitation )in front of his disciples, turn water into wine at a wedding feast ( transmutation ), calm the storms ( weather control ) just like David Copperfeild, Cris Angel and David Blaine can today - then in reality Jesus is a Warlock just like Daniel and our modern day magicians. Moses, too, is the same as he can perform divination or turn his rod into a snake, or part the red sea. They were all magicians with varioaus abilities. As I have done a lot of research into this area, and to save the time wasters - I do not accept the flawed reasoning that the ancient prophets were using God's spirit and a magician uses the Devil's spirit - I'm sorry that's garbage. I know better than that.

    Interested in your comments. May God Bless;

    Dear Kimlyn,
Thank you for your post. However, I would appreciate it if you could go back to the beginning of htis thread and read my request. I had no intention of starting a thread to examine or debate issues. i merely am asking for personal experiences from those who have had an encounter with God in healing, comfort, guidance, etc. to give an account of those.
I'm sure there are other threads where you can post controversial arguments and I am not denying you that. I just want to keep this one for the original purpose for which I started it.

    Thank you and God bless,

    Dear Skylark,
Although that is not exactly waht I requested, I do truly appreciate the materials you sent. This has been an area of great concern and object of my intercession for years now. It is so encouraging to know thta God is working so wonderously in the earth now. I do certainly agree with you that the great need now is intercessory prayer. God is truly moving in the earth greatly.
I will follow up on some of the things you wrote.
Here is a fellow Christian who has the same burden you do to see the Muslim world come to know Jesus as Lord. Here is the link. He has a newsletter but i cannot find the link. However, you will be able to tell from this iste what he is all about.
