AFTF Update:


Dear AFTF Volunteers:

I know there's been a lot of watching and waiting going on across the country as the Five (5) city premier of AFTF opened one week ago. If my experience is any indication, volunteers in the five opening markets must be exhausted. But now is not the time to slow down! We've learned a lot from this limited one (1) week run. And from most everything I've been able to observe this past week has been a resounding success - with one exception being the quality of the film prints.

I hope everyone understands that Aaron shortened the run to one (1) week due to the very poor quality of the film prints that arrived late anyway - they were showing DVDs that were 1-2+ months old prior to the arrival of the celluloid prints. I experienced the very poor quality of one of the film prints here in Chicago - many of the images were very blurry, the color was way off and the sound cut higher and lower in volume.

AFTF premiered in only 10 theatres, but at the end of the opening weekend the box-office returns already made it the # 2 revenue-per-theatre grossing film in America. Henry Nicolle, AFTF Coordinator for California wrote to inform me that Dave Champion on his weekly radio show - American Radio : Revealing the American Matrix - noted that " AFTF was #2 in box-office revenue last weekend at $6,120 per theater following Miami Vice at $8,515 . . . and number three being Pirates at $5,374 per theater."

There were dozens of incredible stories of volunteers going "that extra mile" to make a difference during this opening premier week. Chief among these stories is that of David Noe from Bethlehem PA who single-handedly organized and paid for a luxury bus to drive 35+ individuals from Allentown, PA to the AFTF NYC premier on July 28th. Not only did David get the bus, but also had a BIG 9' X 4' AFTF banner made up which was plastered on the side of the bus. But that wasn't all..... Noe paid for 3 days of a good-sized black and white & color advertisement which told of his "free bus ride" offer to NYC to see the premier of AFTF. One of his local AFTF volunteers contacted the local Allentown paper to urge a reporter to write a story which they did - see below.

This is just one man's energy! And David Noe isn't slowing down! He's already planning on renting a BIG billboard ad as another down payment on publicity and marketing to bring Aaron's movie to the greater Allentown-Bethlehem PA area.

And if stories I am hearing from around the country are any indication of what's really happening in the wake of this movie, the energy and inspiration of David Noe is just the tip of the iceberg. In addition to NYC, we've heard of multiple examples of busloads of people converging on Austin, Kansas City and elsewhere. Here in Chicago it took just one plug during a 10 minute interview of Aaron Russo on a top 5 radio station to filled up a bus I personally organized from the south side of Chicago. Aaron's interview with this station was supposed to have run an entire hour, but the owner of the station was contacted and they cut Aaron's interview all the way back to just 10 minutes. But in that 10 minutes, with just one plug of my 888 number, I/'we received 30+ calls from folks all over the black community here in Chicago. We had volunteers lined up who were willing to sponsor as many as 3 BIG school buses to transport folks from the south and west side of Chicago to see Aaron's movie last weekend. Marcy Brooks, the famous juror from Aaron's movie, joined us on our blazing hot/humid bus ride on Saturday, July 29th, which was the day Aaron arrived in Chicago. We sang the Star Spangled Banner and had a really fun time as we snaked along through Chicago's famous Venetian Night.

I hope we can get the pictures of Tampa-area AFTF Volunteer Harry MacKay who could be seen dressed up as Patrick Henry as he attended several screenings while passing our flyers and AFTF promo DVDs to theatregoers. Kansas City-based Professor-radio talkshow host and AFTF volunteer, Peter McCandless, said that they turned away 30+ individuals at the opening premier on Friday. Our AFTF lead volunteer in Austin, Glen Mayes, called to say he was "blown away" by the extreme level of excitement, support and interest Aaron's movie is generating throughout the greater Austin area. One of our most active volunteers in NYC who prefers to simply be called "Ian" said he single-handedly brought over 60 family, friends and neighbors to the AFTF premier on July 29th. Here in Chicago we had volunteers organize, create and fund a 60 second radio ad that ran on two suburban stations many times throughout the week preceding the premier.

I hope we can document more of the color and details of these personal stories as the days and weeks unfold. In each and every case it was single individuals who stepped out to make a simple, yet powerful difference. The success of AFTF is not about corporate-commercial planning and development. Aaron speaks for himself and the power of the truth within movie speaks for itself. And it's really up to We The People of America to get this truth into the mainstream of public consciousness through more and more of these empowering examples of activism at the local grassroots level.

I cannot speak directly for Aaron, but going forward I can see AFTF hitting more and more cities across the country. We've learned an awful lot from this one (1) week test. The numbers of theatregoers provided us with concrete evidence that this movie is, indeed, a successful commercial-theatrical draw. There are many things that local volunteers can look forward to doing in their areas to support and ensure a successful commercial-theatrical release: pass out thousands of flyers, copy and pass out of the AFTF promo DVD , raise money to fund and place local newspaper and radio ads for example. AFTF volunteers here in Chicago passed out over 20,000+ flyers during the 2 1/2 weeks prior to the premier on July 28th.

From here on out the focus is shifting to more cities that can open AFTF sometime in September 2006. Here in Chicago, for example, there's a local group that is stepping up to the plate to organize and fund an AFTF screening on the HUGE IMAX screen on Navy Pier on Lake Michigan where some 20,000 people congregate at time to enjoy some amazing views and great food, rides and exhibits. The IMAX theatre on Chicago's Navy Pier seats over 500+. There are plans for an AFTF conference with Aaron and some stars from the movie to talk to moviegoers immediately following the premier screening.

The main AFTF volunteer theme from here on out should be to "THINK BIG!" As my grandmother said to my father who was an only child, if you're every going to reach the moon you must be willing to "reach for the stars". I firmly believe that the future of Liberty and Freedom in America and the world will depend on the future growth, development and success of AFTF in awakening people to the truth about what's really happening beneath the surface of our political and economic systems.

Late this afternoon I spoke to Aaron about the important announcement - see below - and found myself scrambling to get a message to some of our AFTF gmail.com <http://gmail.com> volunteer email accounts around the country so everyone of our volunteers could get a chance to hear Aaron on our daily AFTF volunteer conference all. In my haste I typed in the WRONG area code for the conference all - the correct area code was/is 702...NOT 720! Sorry.

We had one over our very best conference calls. Aaron sounded very good. He's encouraged by what is happening around the country with his movie. We are going to all be working together to get AFTF into 13-15 cities in the next 4-6 weeks. We need your continued support. The word of mouth support is important and keeps building with each passing day thanks to everyone's efforts.

This evening we were joined in our call by David Slesinger, the founder of <http://www.911courage.org/>. For the past 30 + years David has been one of the premier experts on the subject of non-violent civil disobedience. Here's a list of David's "Accepted Guidelines for Participants in NonViolent Civil Disobedient Actions."

While on the call Aaron stressed that the time for civil disobedience is still off in the future. More and more and more people in our country need to see and understand the truth of what's really happening behind the scenes in our country and the world. And for this educational process of understanding to begin to spread, people need to be awakened by the truth - ie. they need to see Aaron's movie.
