    One of life's little mysteries
    The fly has low inertia but high air resistance, as the air in the vehicle also had little inertia it stops as soon as the car does, the fly with its high air resistance and low inertia more or less stops along with it. You have very high inertia but low air resistance so when the car stops. you keep going. Kind of like a feather and a hammer being dropped from the same height, on earth the hammer hits the floor long before the feather, on the moon, they hit the floor at the same time............
