    Default Taken to the cleaners?

Hey...remember how those so called tax experts , last year, told us to report the "paper" rol or roi or whatever you call it, as taxable income? Now, I was just wondering how many of you, out there, actually paid taxes on that ghost money? I just reported what got into my bank acct...which was a big fat zero. :)
I am not in any way ridiculing you people, who fell for this, but, don't you feel ripped off by this "expert" advice from these jokers?

Those of us in the financial and advisory world cautioned them on this, Kirk, they just refused to listen. For the record, it should be classified as Schedule B monies, if any are received, but then, what do I know..........

I'm pretty sure the IRS isn't going to let you write this off as an investment loss............

    Funny,

Yes, I remember those so called experts on taxes encouraging us to pay first, pray we received anything second, and now look where we are? I am glad that I under no circumstances would pay the IRS first. LOL

    Good luck to all, Mike

    Cool Risk Free Pofit

    Hummmm,

Always only report what you got into the bank account. But then again reinvest to generate passive income to have even more ways around. TrustFunds for example, Everything in that TF name.

Some "Tax Experts" reminder me of "Insurance Experts", full of it. I stay with the one that goes to court with me, incase. hehe

    My 2 cents,

Yes, it's certainly laughable. The whole ROL as taxable income was a joke to begin with. Anyone who listened and paid was, frankly, stupid. I mean, the tax on what I should have got would've been more than my income anyway...

It's like saying "Well, there's a chance I might win the lottery, so I'd better pay tax on £6million just in case".

    !!!!!!!

In effect we do already "prepay" taxes, at least in the US. It's just that some overpay and underpay which requires filing each year to even the score...
