From what I understand, the PM's were "misused" by some to solicit others; until the PM's can be modified to prevent this and/or those that did it can be identified and prevented from doing it again, the PM's will be disabled. It's the age-old problem of a few "bad eggs" ruining the "quiche" for everyone.Originally Posted by drgibble

So just how in the bloody h**l do you misuse PM's?
The logic here is steadily becoming extremely hard to swallow.
PM means PM, not public. What the h**l is the problem with that? And why would you care as a moderator, if it was "private message"? Nobody views it except the sender and the receiver.
But it's okay to "solicit" people on the open forum for other stuff like "something or other" Zap, or "new programs that will be a benefit to all members". I've never seen any of those postings deleted or closed. Of course like they say, it's not who you know it's who ... ....".
Hey, you want to promote your own stuff, that's great. But try a little restraint for people that say "I'm not interested".
Believe it or not, folks have their own brain, and don't need to be told what is good and bad by folks with the ability to monitor/delete/disable posts and messages.
It's way beyond the terms and conditions of this forum to control information the way that it is being done.
Oh yeah, IMHO.Last edited by drgibble; 28-01-2006 at 10:05 PM.

scubadiver,
So just don't respond to the XXX messages! It happens every day on the open internet. It has absolutely nothing to do with PM's on a forum.
If that the excuse being used to disable PM's, it's pretty lame, IMHO.
