Crises come in many forms---a hurricane, flood waters, forest fire, tsunamis, mudslides, AIDS, terrorists acts, fires, a disease like cancer, deformities, loss of job, accident, death, rape, alcohol and drug abuse in the family, divorce, breaking up with boy/girl friend, death of a pet, losses, home burns, favorite friend moves away, abuse, robbed, harassed, terminal illness, incest, being stalked, fleeing from home, suicide in family, family member incarcerated and more. These are all painful events that need processing time for the survivor’s emotional healing.
When these happen there is an impact on the individual’s financial, physical, emotional, social, psychological and even spiritual well-being. One often feels helpless and hopeless. It is a traumatic experience. The pain of loss can be excruciating. The devastating event is crushing. Working through the crisis takes time which may last hours, days and months and even years.
Our Pips family is in a crisis, we need each other now more than ever no matter the outcome.
We need to lean on each other!!!!!

A Time For Healing
First, what is a crisis? It usually is an interruption of one’s normal life. It is trouble! It is trauma with overwhelming affects. We feel that we have no way of handling the situation. We sense a high level of anxiety and this may bring a whole constellation of physical problems. Often the crisis and its accompanying anxiety may shut downs the person’s emotional and coping abilities.
A crisis is a decisive moment. It is a turning point for an individual, family or group. How we decide to approach the crisis is critical. In fact, the word crisis comes from the Greek (krinein) meaning to decide.
One has to do something.
I encourage all to decide to maintain our inner tranquality in light of what is transpiring with our Pips family.

We must not yield to Defeatism no matter the outcome
A crisis contains four elements:
1. A sudden upsetting event: This event threatens you or someone/thing dear to you physically, emotionally, relationally or financially.
2. Your vulnerable state: Crises often seem to strike you when you are stressed or fatigued.
3. The actual precipitating factor: "the last straw” --pressure and stress grow until a single event can push you over the edge.
4. The state of crisis: You feel helpless and threatened. This is the moment of crisis. This is the moment of choice.

This is how Rosilyn Carter and her husband faced the angry elephants in their lives after her husband sustained a devastating defeat in his attempt to regain the White House.
Rosilyn Carter, wife of former President Jimmy Carter, spoke of her recovery after her husband lost the presidential election. He did not die but there was a devastating loss. Rosilyn grieved the loss. She said, "I had to grieve over our loss before I could look to the future." It is important to face up to our losses so that we may move on
