    Default A little Nature lesson:

A friend of mine thought he would share some of his views.....

    4D

Squirrels, as you know, keep a stash of nuts in their nest for immediate purposes, and then they hide the greater majority of nuts in other places so that they will always have access to most of their nuts. It is true that some hiding spots are discovered, but the squirrels take that into account and the greater portion is left for the squirrel to use.

Now, chipmunks, mice, birds and other opportunists often pilfer the squirrel nests when they are away or otherwise distracted. Some of the hiding spots are likewise plundered. Once the nest is empty, the invaders scurry about looking for more nuts (rather than get their own or use their talents for productive work). The squirrel replaces the stash in the nest with only enough to provide for the short term; again, the majority is left hidden.

Once this happens, the nasty little beasties come back and take some more, not being satisfied with the original heist, and run with paws and cheeks filled to the limit. Squirrels, however, are smart little creatures. They stop filling the nest with goodies, even though they may continue to use it, and find new cupboards and dining areas. The mean little beasties, upon further inspection, see an empty hole and tell all their little lazy ass forest friends that the squirrel has no more nuts. They say that the no good, rotten squirrel has eaten all the nuts and left their unproductive hides nothing at all! DAMN that squirrel! All the creatures will starve because of that squirrel...........

Meanwhile, the squirrel sits in a tree some distance away, calmly munching on an acorn, and winks to all the other little squirrels who have helped gather the nuts and have amassed their very own little stash............................................. .........

Thanks for sharing that 4D. Looks like squirrels are very wise creatures and can teach us all a lesson or two.

Wow 4D! I loved that story! I think it is a great analogy. And a very good attempt to manufacture serendipity, to create the circumstances in which clever people might have an "Aha!" moment. I know I did. Good for you!
    You are very keen.

Native American Indians believe each animal has it’s own medicine or teachings that they bring to us….

Since the squirrel has scurried into the forum…it may be that we are being told to honor our future by readying ourselves for change. The message could be to lighten our load if we have gathered too many “things” that do not serve us. These “things” can include thoughts, worries, pressures, stresses, or gadgets that have been broken for years. In understanding the balance involved with gathering, we need to look at the idea of circulating the stock of what we have gathered. Call the nearest thrift store and give the gadgets to someone who can benefit from them. If something is no longer of use for us, then it is time to let it go.

Squirrel has another lesson which can aid us if we observe what is obvious, and which can prepare us for anything. It has to do with the safe place in which to put our gatherings. This safe place is an untroubled heart and mind, and that which is gathered to put in this place is wisdom and caring. The energies gathered will set our minds and hearts free, so that we will know that all will be taken care of in it’s own time. Apply this to our fears about the future and they will vanish.

We can learn a lot from the Squirrel’s medicine….

    Thanks 4D….for inviting him in….:)
