Thread: materialistic things?

what is money??? what is a car?? what is jewelery ??? how do we procieve these things??? what is the worth of our fortunes when we can reach them?? what will you do. how will you react??? just a few questions to ponder!!!

with my "fortune", i'd settle for just paying off many old debts, etc.... and paying for the rest of college would be real helpful and nice.

I wish I was able to buy a house and then no more rent. I am not asking too much.
However, a small fortune would do nicely :)

There is a generation which was told money is evil. The truth is money is neutral. What we do with it is the key to understand how money can transform our realities.

We have the opportunity to make our world better by sharing resources (money, talents and time) and educate ourselves towards prosperity, wealth, health and friendship. The new social challenge is not charity anymore. We need to be educated and educate others to understand the laws of prosperity.

Instead to be focused only on our own wealth we need to support personal economic development initiatives worldwide by allowing people to have access to financial, motivational, spiritual, wellness and emotional support.

"Teach how to fish" we always say but it takes emotional involvement with people who wants to make a difference in this world. If we start to move towards this principles, without any specific recipe, we can transform our societies one person at a time.

Money will help us to do it!

We need to create our miracles ourselves and we will "multiply the fish and bread" and everybody will be fed.

Wow, everyone - Is it just me who doesn't have a clue how you all got such weird meanings out of spiderman's post???

I took his quote to mean exactly what it said. What IS a car, money, jewelry, what is fortune worth in the long run after we've finally reached it? These are indeed interesting questions to ponder. Guess to me it's right up there with "What is the meaning of life"?!

The way I ponder it, spiderman, is that it depends on which part of the mind one is looking to for such a perception. If it's from the ego part of our mind, then the car and fortune mean "it is mine and I have to take it even if it means taking it from someone becuase if I don't, there will be less for me". And as soon as the ego does reach the fortunes, it will say exactly the same thing because the ego is never satisfied!

The Spirit Mind will say something very different. Spirit considers us all one with our Source so that what we take away from others, we take away from ourselves so therefore, one could also say we would interpret how we'd react to finally reaching our fortunes in the same manner.

But if that STILL doesn't sit well with someone becuase something still seems to be missing, then perhaps reading A Course In Miracles fill in the blanks. According to the Mind that wrote the Course, we are all actually asleep. Our ego thinks we split from our Source so we'd better hide or the Source will punish us for "leaving". Therefore - WE created the universe and our bodies in order to hide from the Source. Yet the Source knows this is all an illusion (and so is money, jewelry and fortunes as well as a you and me since we all are One) and all It wants us to do is wake up and realize we never left our Source.

So therefore, if nothing really ever happened, there is no separation, therefore there is no money, jewelry, us - and so THERfFORE, there really is NOTHING to ponder!

Ponder that!!!

I guess it Depends on how we Use these Materialistic Possessions once we have them.

We have 2 Options:

(A) Use them in a Charitable Fashion; or:

(B) Hoard them for our own Personal Gratification.
