Thank you VP...James
My thoughts have more than gone out to the victims  and families, and my anger has been taken out on yelling at bush as he talks on tv.

Hear , hear . From what I can see your Government is doing all it can at this stage . Save your energies for putting positive feedback and solutions into this catastrophe .
Funny how most US citizens don't know that a lot of foreign aid has been offered. I'm glad the Dutch are helping .......
Good luck to all those poor people down there.
Jan
Castro has offered 1100 doctors and medical supplies . Even Sri Lanka has offered $25000 . Now is the time for all the nations that the US has aided to repay the favour .
Man seems to think, we are so strong, the ruler of everthing yet this storm has shown us once again that man is so vulnerable. And dependant upon higher powers.I do pray for the people on the gulf coast and there families, with a great hope that they may find some peace from God above and the help from us all in this most urgent time of need.
Yes our brothers need a lot of prayers so that the lord may sooth their grief and anxiety and cast away any fear.
But the Amricans need also to pray to have people loving leaders. Why do I say this. Disasters like Katrina are each year getting bigger in magnitude due increased tempretures.
Most of the world has heard about the KYOTO agreement. 400 million EU citizens, the millions of Japanese citizens and the other millions of citizens coming from the countries have accepted the scarifice needed to bear the billions in adjustments cost their economies and industries have to go through to meet the targets of the KYOTO agreement.
But the almighty Mr Bush and the American industrialists lobbying against the Kyoto agreement will not even listen to reason, why?, because it will cost billions to the U.S. economy. They are SO BLIND with their love of money that they cannot even see that their continuing refusal to curb emmissions is costing the country more to make good for the natural disasters than it will cost to upgrade to cleaner production systems. This, not considering the lives lost in such tragidies, which realy and truely, no one can ever give a cost to, because, what is the price of life?
So in conclusion, considering both the natural disasters and man made disasters (Iraq War) it seems that the U.S. is burdened by a person who does not give a sh*t about the lives of his fellow citizens.
You had better read very carefully the Kyoto agreement. It would at best only lower the temperature by 0.02 degrees if everybody signed on to it.
China is exempted as an "emerging" industrial nation. It is BAD science and meant only to hinder capitalism.
 sorry maxie, but thats bull what u just said..lol
Canada has offered aid and is willing to do what it can. We feel for the people affected and pray for all of them.
Just goes to show in the big picture of things how life can change so quickly.
Count your blessings.

According to the Vostoc ice core studies, at about 140,000 years ago, the climate was about 6 C colder than it is today - an ice age period.Quote:

I don't think America or another nations for that matter, was around during the period from 130,000 to 125,000 years ago. Who caused that global warming.
The whole Kyoto reasoning is based on junk science done by the envioronmental extreamists.
Dear Bev,
UH HUH!
Grubstake, I suppose you and all your liberal friends say Bush created the hurricane. You people are just as bad as the trolls!! The President and Congress are doing their best to help those poor souls in Louisiana and Mississippi. It will take time and effort from everyone to do all that needs to be done. Join your liberal friends and bash our President and blame it on him if that pleases you. But most true Americans will join together and do all we can to help those people out of the dire situation they are in. You are no better than the trolls who have been spreading the garbage on this forum the past two weeks!!!
Dear Hithere
I know you mean well but I do believe they were asking for prayers and not trying to make this a political thread. Please unless you have lived there and know the people try to restrict youself to the right place to do this. I myself have been around the world three times now and it is funny even though most people speak a different language we are all the same. And people do take offense when you say things about they're country or its leaders. I won't say anything bad about your country if you don't say anything bad about mine. I am proud to be an American when any nation on this planet gets itself into trouble who are the first ones they come to? Yup the good ole USA.

The fact is, that the US is debating the wisdom of making another failure agreement with other countries. All the free trade agreements have been outright abused by those countries agreeing to limit their influx of goods to the quotas. It has cost Americam businesses in the extreme. Most have had to close up shop because the influx of goods was stealing their market and they could not afford to sell under overhead costs. And lets face it, why be in business without a profit?
We have been trying to help the world grow and develope by these means but it has already hurt us greatly. But you won't hear the truth of record job losses as when an unemployed worker runs out of unemployment benefits, he/she is taken off the list of unemployed. And that is a fact. New replacement employment(so called) are low mostly minimum wage or factory work, burger joints or other low paying jobs by the comparison of what was available before the free trade agreements. And that is just the beginning of sgreements that have gone sour for the US. The reason you won't hear the truth is completely political reasons, voting tendancies of the American people and how the parties like to manipulate for a vote. And I hate to say it, but Bush didn't respond to the New Orleans disaster until the victims got on the public news and complained about not getting any help. I would have thought that the national reserves would have been placed there to help out as usual.
Now back to the reason for the topic, Bush agreed to giving $10 mil for aid to the disaster in New Orleans, but one man alone gave $5 mil, so it makes the government look kind of stengy. And folks, that is but a drop in the bucket for what is needed. It is a complete disaster there. They must rebuild the whole place practically, not to mention put up the victims in decent living conditions until that time of building completion or readiness. US can give a lot more to their own, but it does strike rather oddly that they didn't. I am glad that other countries are helping and that there is a movement from the actors' guild to help as well as other important associations.
My prayers go out to the victims and pray they get a speedy recovery.
I believe you'll find that Bush said $10 billion with a B. He also said that's just a start. I think you'll also find if you research it that he responded even before the hurricant struck. And it's the governor of states that are in charge of the National Guard, so don't blame Bush for not sending in the National Guard. That's not his job. He did send in the regular armed forces to help.Quote:

sivart,
***EDITED AGAIN***
GEEZ, you neoconservative tools get me so hotheaded sometimes.
And gator, godspeed my friend.
Good day emean,
The fact that we should always keep in our prayers those in need of physical and spiritual help and the persons helping them so that they can accomplish there mission speedily is not being debated, I say this for whoever the people are, even our enemies, as our Lord instructed us (now do not missquote me by saying that I am saying the US is our enemy).
But the fact is that if all nations, and more so the fuel guzzlers, and the US is Number 1, do not put in their effort to start correcting what we created, then, we can only expect worse. This is severe shortsightedness, and I am sorry if my critisism for Bush hurt you, but facts are facts.
And yes, Bush is being stingy, he finds all the money he needs to distruct other countries but not whatever is needed for his own citizens.
Dear God, if you kindly wish, please have mercy on all of us.
Let us love you, more and more each passing day, it does not matter the conditions...since Loving you must be our first goal in life.
And please kindly if you wish, give us the intelligence to love one another.
Thank You dear Father,
For giving us dominion over all the earth.
Thank you for making us smart, strong and Loving.
Thank you for our wise forefathers who created this
wonderful opportunity to control our own destiny,
and through our own diligence make sure that
ALL are safe and sound and
thank you Father that we have all done our duty
to make sure that all our brothers and sisters
are protected from the evil ones by participating
completely in the right to create proper legislation
and vote and select only those who do Your will to lead us.
Thank You Father.
Amen
We are All blessed.

On Monday morning at 8:00 I left Jacksonville,FL with a convoy of 25 trucks, Congresswomen Corrine Brown, Channel 12 News Crew, PRI production studio,Some Swat team menbers, and JSO Police Officers. Outside jacksonville in a rest area we met other people from around the state. Our trip was very grouling as we tried to keep everyone together. We lost one truck to a blow out, others went off to other cities in Mississippi and surrounding area. We had many problems with supplying the convoy with the required fuel to make the trip, but we made it, as we got on the other side of Biloxi you could see and sense the devastation was everwhere and it got worse as we went through Gulfport, Slidell, and Covington. We eventually made our way on to I-12 and on thru Baton Rouge and back on to I-10 about 30 mile from Lafayette we were met with the biggest Police escort you have ever seen. They were all blowing their horns and sounding their sirens. Alone with the police escort was State Senator Donald R. Cravins riding in one of the police cars. Until this happened I was very tired and exhausted but, boy what a lift of my spirits when I saw all those Cops and they weren't there to give me a ticket, it was great. You would have thought that we were gods or something. The escort took us to a huge warehouse where we were met by hundreds of people who had lost everything and all of these people gave us a standing ovation. It brought tears to my eyes. they were so thankful for us bringing them some food, water and other supplies. the highlight of the night was giving a little girl a bike which she had lost hers in the storm. Her parents just broke down and started crying. There were many of these encounters as we were there. We were taken to several shelters to meet many of the displaced people of Kitrina. It was just one heart break after another. A group of us were invited to stay at one of Senator Cravins houses to get some sleep so we could make the trip back to jville. This is something that I'll remember for the rest of my life. It was opportunity of a life time to make a difference in someones life who needed the help.
On Saturday 10 September I'll be making another trip this time to Mississippi where many people have not received anything from anyone. The Name of the group that I am doing this for is called Mission Harvest. I am a volunteer and only receiving money for my fuel to run my truck. My hope is that people will continue to do something to help these people out. Remember these people are not refugees, THERE "AMERICANS"!
