Should a new puppy sleep with you in a bed?
I don’t know about “should” but mine certainly did… and they still do every night. :P
I’m not gonna lie, there have been times when I wondered if letting them sleep with me was the best decision. They have woken me up in the middle of the night to bark at a racoon outside, when all I can think of is “who cares?” :P but… the truth is that waking up to those cute faces every single morning is the best feeling in the world and I wouldn’t really trade it for anything. Their innocence and unconditional love is absolutely priceless and a gift to have around. My dogs are clean and smell super sweet… somehow I love their little scents in the morning, too. Very soothing.
I may be making stuff up, but they say perception is reality so… in my reality, my dogs love sleeping in my bed, too. :) It warms my heart to do nice things for them, and keeping them safe with me all night is a blessing. It makes me feel good inside. I can’t describe it. I guess that’s what being a pack means: putting each other at peace.
The crate that I bought when my oldest was still a puppy sits in a corner in the TV room. The door is always open and a blanket always sits on top of it to make it like a little cave, but… I have never closed the door on them. They come and go as they please but don’t go there very often. Maybe for a quick nap in the afternoon or while we watch TV.
They know the routine of when I’m getting ready for bed, and they seem to get ready, too. ;) Although both of them can jump on the bed, at bed time they ask to be picked up (because they are sleepy?) and I think it’s the cutest thing.
^This pic is the only one I have on this laptop but… waking up to something like this is heaven on earth. :)
