DDoS ATTACKS
This is what SOLID INVESTMENT is fighting. I believe that they sustained serious friendly, and enemy, DDoS attacks the week of payouts (July 3 - July 7), and possibly some before that. Maybe that is why their servers slowed to a crawl, and, at one point, stopped altogether. I believe they took their servers down to erect security precautions against this.
DDoS ATTACKS ARE VERY SERIOUS AND COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE THE LOSS OF ALL SOLID INVESTMENT DATA AND, CONSEQUENTLY, OUR INVESTMENTS.
What I believe Solid Investment is doing now is trying to route their server through a proxy site that is very large. The proxy site has a huge opening, that can accommodate ten million computers entering it at one time. Then, at the back of this opening, there is a port leading to the Solid Investment server. All that DDoS attackers see is the IP address of the proxy site, with its enormous opening. But, they never see Solid Investment's IP address, because it is hidden behind the IP address of the proxy site.
The proxy site has hundreds, maybe thousands, of clients like SI using their services to protect them from DDoS attacks, the very thing that was plaguing Solid Investment before it went off line. Also, by hiding behind a proxy IP, hackers have a more difficult time gaining access to the protected servers.
If you have Internet telephone service (VOIP), you have the same thing. Your computer's IP address is hiding behind the IP address of your telephone router. All hackers, or DDoS attackers, see is your is router IP address, which cannot be hijacked or hacked.
DISTRIBUTED DENIAL OF SERVICE (DDoS) DEFINED
On the Internet, a distributed denial-of-service DDoS (pronounced DEE-DOS) attack is one in which a multitude of compromised systems attack a single target, thereby causing denial of service for users of the targeted system. The flood of incoming messages to the target system essentially forces it to shut down, thereby denying service to the system to legitimate users.
A hacker (or, if you prefer, cracker) begins a DDoS attack by exploiting a vulnerability in one computer system and making it the DDoS "master." It is from the master system that the intruder identifies and communicates with other systems that can be compromised. The intruder loads cracking tools available on the Internet on multiple -- sometimes thousands of -- compromised systems. With a single command, the intruder instructs the controlled machines to launch one of many flood attacks against a specified target. The inundation of packets to the target causes a denial of service.
While the press tends to focus on the target of DDoS attacks as the victim, in reality there are many victims in a DDoS attack -- the final target and as well the systems controlled by the intruder.
This type of a attack floods a network with an overwhelming amount of traffic, slowing its response time for legitimate traffic or grinding it to a halt completely.
HOW CAN YOU, AS A COMPUTER OWNER - USER, PREVENT DDoS ATTACKS?
What can you do, as a computer owner or user, to help prevent DDoS attacks on such Internet sites as Solid Investment?
Here is one method the attackers use. They inject a Trojan Virus into an .EXE file, or into an incoming Email message (The word Trojan refers to covertly entering something, just as the Greeks did when they secretly entered the City of Troy inside of a wooden horse). When someone, using their unprotected home or office computer, opens the file, the Trojan virus secretly installs, loads and initializes WINSERVE, a Microsoft program that turns a computer into a server. Then, when the attackers are ready, they send a message to thousands of computers that they have already infected and tell them to head for, and enter, one Internet site. This causes the intended victim Internet site to become overloaded with too much traffic, causing it to slow down or to crash altogether.
You can help prevent this type of attack. Install good virus filtering and firewall protection, such as McAfee or Zone Alarm, on your system.
The virus filter helps to prevent viruses from entering your computer and to clean up the ones that do get in.
The firewall prevents the attackers from entering your computer, unwanted and unannounced.
Never open unknown Email messages and never open downloaded .EXE files, unless you know what they are. Some providers will not even allow you make an Email attachment of any file with an .EXE extension. That's how dangerous they consider them to be.
Check your system for installed WINSERVE. If you find that it is installed and know that you do not need it for some purpose, un-install it.
There are some very sick, vicious people out there. You don't want hackers stealing your USER NAMES and your PASSWORDS. If you have not already, install security on your system. PROTECT YOUR COMPUTER AND YOUR SI INVESTMENT!!!
By helping to stop DDoS attacks, you are protecting the entire Internet system, including sites that you need for income and survival, such as Solid Investment.

excellent information pingman. It is true that they are upgrading servers. unfortunately, the one they purchased was supposed to handle 100K investors but beta test showed a lesser amount.
It is a total abomination, the words spoken on this site and i look forward to seeing the replies of *****s when their pay comes to them. I also look forward to the foul language again when they no longer have the ability to re-invest and lose out on 5 years of opportunity to make money.
things are fine and it does show the immaturity and lack of investing experience when the panic attack goes wild like it has. there is truth that it could have been handled better with communication through SI. my biggest concern is the people trying to jump on board with litigation and wether or not it can stall the process that we await, but i also know that they have covered basis and there is a state that has already tried to shut down SI to no avail.
If you think you have knowledge of SI, than you tell me where sam is. that is the sign that you know a little more than ****.

If you are interested in following one site owners research into this scary world of DDOS and DRDOS, have a look at http://www.grc.com/dos/grcdos.htm.
If everyone had the proper anti-virus, firewall and anti-spyware software installed, most of these problems would go away. Too many people have no protection or use freebie software - like most things in this world, you get what you pay for.
Even if you have anti spyware, key in passwords via OSK and store them using roboform or a similar program.
NEVER enter a password via the keyboard.
