Here is part of a post from ecurrency forum that tells why SI site is down.

Good News - SI site will be back soon - security work being done - get excited!
I've been checking and posting since the site went down, which was for a very valid reason as they have moved the IP (Route) to the server via the DDoS protection service to make it all more secure for next week, which is a very positive sign.

Here are some of the posts I've made recently and you should see the site back within a few hours, a day at the most.

The following posts, which were originally in responce to others concern, start from before I looked into exactly what was happening to when I could see what was happening:

Well I remember few programs I joined in the past and history teach us
if admin won't send update within nearest one, two days
-especially now when site and forum is down - program won't be back.

That is logical adron. I hope you are wrong, but anyhow, I'm going on vacation tomorrow so I won't have to preoccupy myself with this. I'll be surprised if I get the big surprise when I get back, though...........

Can't connect now Doesn't look good...Oh well, we shall see come the 15th if it does a miracle and come back up..Glad to know my money is still in E-Gold and not tied up into SI..Emotions sure have taken a wild roller coaster ride this last month
