Default What are guidelines for locking threads?

As respectfully as I can ask,

What exactly are the guidelines for closing a thread?
It seems like when the balance of posts are negative, the thread just gets closed, and falls by the wayside.

If this is to be an impartial forum about information concerning PIPs, and as long as posts are not rude (from either side), then why lock threads, based on a judgement of being boring? I feel you have to consider if it is boring to everyone, or just those with the ability to lock posts.

The whole PIPs situation is getting more tense everyday. To try and hide one side of the fence's views here is not going to make it any more livable, or bearable.

People are screaming for info. I feel that they should have the right to see what everyone is feeling, both good and bad.

    Drgibble,
It appears to me ,from your posts ,that you are a very logical thinker.I wish I could answer your questions but the answers and reasons why threads are locked belong to the mods. From my observations I did noticed a pattern or if you prefer underlying rules that will prevent a thread from being locked.
rule #1 : Always end your post by I believe in PIPS and ....
rule #2 : Never question the validity of the info you receive here.....
rule#3 : Never complain or whine about your money........
rule #4 : Be patient and be willing to wait forever besides what else can you do........
rule #5 : Participate willingly and joyfully in any new program thats come along.......
rule #6 : Somebody has your best interests at heart .You dont know anything about investments. leave the details to the professionals. If you make money fine if not see rule #1.

Finally you got question that could be answered.

    1. No personal or indirect attack or critic type questions to Bryan and or Pips.

    2. No questions outside guidelines provided by Bryan in his post.

    3. No speculation stories that does not have any logical connection to Pips business.

    4. No personal attack to any forum member.

    5. No copy and paste article from other unconfirmed and illegal source's.
If any, first to be approved by Mods or Forum Admin.

Well, that is basically I have and Mods can add or remove if required.

We are all in Pips for same reason. To make money and help charity.
This business did put us together and we have obligation to protect pips business for interest to all. Individual ago is not welcome since destroys integrity of Pips business.

Love each other( as we did in old Pips forum) and try help each other.

This is only way we will succeeded.

Besides breaking forum rules...The long and short of it is, "It depends..." It depends on many different reasons and each is taken on a case by case basis. There have been, and are currently, many threads that are of a "negative" standpoint that will go on or have gone on to die natural deaths (i.e. obscurity) and never get closed. Overall, however, most of the negative threads descend into a chaos of threats, posturing, foul language, and other less-than-favorable interaction. More often than not, this is why they get closed. By and large, more of the people on this forum wish to see verifiable information and participate in "positive" discourse, therefore, unsubstantiated negative information gets canned. Meanwhile, the positive posts end up having a longer shelf-life than negative posts because they stay polite and socially unobjectionable and therefore do not require the same moderator attention that negative posts require.

I'm sure there are more reasons but these are some that were on the top of my head...

    Hawk,

Everything you said makes alot of sense. I agree.

I'll be the first to admit that the tension gets too high at times, which causes "above average negative responses".

I really do like the idea of PIPs. Chance to make some bucks, and chance to do some good. Shoot, I had the same dreamsas the rest for months after joining. Dreamed about giving all my family nice big juicy Xmas presents (pleae, noone get on me for mentioning the Xmas word - it's been played to death). Dreamed about doing "random acts of kindness" to folks that would be flabergasted at getting an unsuspected gift from a total stranger.

Maybe some PIPs members were able to do this in past, before "the end of the world" struck.

Myself, my brother, and a good friend of mine were not able to. Ya gotta admit, it's tough to swallow after so long a period, and so little action from PIPs.

I won't go so far as to say I will practice more patience, but I will say that I'll practice more civility pertaining to posting negative.

There are a few posters that I'd like to take one last shot at, but I ain't gonna do it What's the point?

What I am going to do, is say "The H... with it", shut my store about 3:00pm tomorrow, and go fishing - a rare treat for me, being open 7 days a week.

So, I guess I'd ask the folks that in the past have received some compensation from (still don't know what to call it) PIPs involvement. to try and exercise a wee bit more (here it comes, the dreaded "P" word) patience with those of us that have never.

    SM,

I'd rather get two 15" trout, and maybe a bass, and maybe later at the bar................................

Actually, I'll be more than happy just for the time off, but 1 outta three wouldn't be bad.

Actually, I don't hang out in bars, just buy my bottle of Carlo Rossi Paisano, and hit the ol' recliner. The simple things in life.

Don't know if this allowed, and I don't make money from it, unless you consider $300 after 5 years money, but here's my website address that I set up when contemplating a life of writing (notice future book dates). Hey, but I did it once (no charge - seemed pretty vain to me).

    SM,

Now you know, that mice never get along with dogs (or cats).

Actually, one of these days I AM gonna finish the "One Dog's Tales". I thought it would be a great spin - an old bum and a dog in Central Park - from the dog's point of view. And by the way, the dog doesn't have troll horns either!! (jockularity, jockularity).

Have a good day, and hey, thanks for looking at my want-to-be author site.
