Can you recommend some inexpensive model?
I would reccommend a Remington Model 7 (bolt action) in 7mm-08 with a quality ( Weaver, Nikon, Leupold ) 4x telescopic sight. Light, minimal recoil, deadly accurate, fairly inexpensive, reliable and with the right ammo will take anything from varmits to elk.
I agree with what Xebaci said. This is a good gun. Bought this one not too long ago and I'm really satisfied. Before it, I have hunted with my dad's old. 22 Remington. TBH, this rifle wasn't so bad too. The only problem was the scope. It had a lot of scratches on its surface. But this gun became almost perfect after I bought a new scope using review from consumerepic.com site. BTW, if you have an old gun (like I did), you better just buy a new scope for it. This is a perfect way to save a lot of money. The scope is almost a main part of any hunting rifle.
