Why technicians’ shops are full of useless gadgets

I often see shops of electronics technicians, rewinders, turners, etc. and gadgets repairers littered with used, old and useless appliances and gadgets.

I once asked one of them the reasons why for that. He’s a veteran technician and his shop is full of disused appliances.

According to him:

Many customers will bring their faulty gadgets and ask him to repair them, but they won’t come back again to claim those gadgets. Some of them would give some down payment, and would never come back.

There are some who would eventually come back to take their appliances – but after months or years. Some gadgets would have been repaired, but the owners won’t come back to claim them. Some cannot be repaired until the owners pay some money to buy spare parts; and when owners don’t do this, the spare parts won’t be bought and their gadgets would remain in the shops.

Technician cannot dispose or sell those disused gadgets because any owner can come anytime to claim their gadgets or pay for their repairs, and when their gadgets aren’t found, it would lead to a serious problem.

That’s why technicians’ shops are full of useless mountains of gadgets.
