Should I tell my mom that her husband kissed me?

She seems happy for the first time. She's never been like this. She’s eating normally. She’s not having angry outbursts at me anymore. I feel stuck.

I assume this is your step father. How did he kiss you? A fatherly or platonic peck on the cheek or forehead, or a full on romantic kiss? (I assume it’s the latter.) How old are you?

If you’re over 18, and/or no longer live at home, keep your distance from him.

If you’re under 18 and live at home, you made be in danger of sexual abuse or assault. Tell an adult. Where’s your father? If he’s not in the picture, tell a teacher or school counsellor.

Should you go to your mother first? I need to ask: is she likely to be in your corner, or take her husband’s side? There’s the danger she may blame you, influence you to not tell anyone, not protect you, and further endanger you.

This may “blow up” your family and your mother’s marriage, but that’s not your fault. Her husband set those wheels in motion with his actions. Your first priority has to be to protect you from his advances. Tell your father, a teacher, a school counsellor, a clergymen or woman, or even the police. He’s already assaulted you with his unwelcome kiss.
