Counterfeit Iraq BankNotes
Look at the serial numbers of these 4 notes I scanned.
What do you notice about the Arab language serial numbers on each note?
The same serial numbers on all 4 of the above notes! Counterfeit!
I got this phone call from my friend Sherlock one Saturday morning. Normally when Sherlock calls me he's pretty up and up, a happy kind of guy. In a low tone, almost to not wake up the folks across the street Sherlock quietly informed me that some of the numbers were-
"..the same eh, the same", said Sherlock...
serial numbers on his banknotes were the same..
I Was Completely Devastated : (
You see, Sherlock and I distributed 10's of thousands of dollars of Iraq currency together for a whole year. I immediately checked my Iraq banknotes and I had duplicate serial numbers on mine too!?
My worst possible nightmare was starting to unfold. Counterfeit, refunds (yuck), and a heck of a lot of them too. I told Sherlock I'd call him in a few minutes as I was off to the police station!
I don't know why, but I felt guilty.
To make a long story short, I searched all over the internet for stories on counterfeit Iraq notes from Jordan, you name it, I was looking for answers. Finally, it dawned on me...
Take a closer look...
DrDinar's close up shot of the serial number on the top note shows two characters on the far right of the serial number. They are different.
The zoom shot shows these Arab numbers 2 and 3 from left to right. The 2 has two peaks on the top and the 3 has three peaks on the top where the red arrows are.
There are multiple combinations of these numbers which may look the same from a distance.
