Good question. Is there anyone familiar with Iraqi politics and economics to know if the violence will have any bearing on the r/v or is totally unrelated?

Very true! I have been on several radical islam sites this morning and they are already castigating the U.S. over this! I can't believe their SHORT memory span..they know full well Malaki ordered our troops out of there on Oct. 31st! If our troops had been allowed to stay there wouldn't have been all that blood shed! Seems the blood is on Malaki's hands not the U.S.!
Cheers!

I don't believe there is any bearing on what the CBI does in regards to the violence. It has been stated over and over again that the CBI is a separate entity from the government, just as our Federal Reserve is a separate entity of our government. They have goals in mind and what we are seeing today will have no effect on them reaching those goals they have set before them. The r/v IMO is the solution to ALL the problems facing Iraq, and it seems the government sees this also. JMO.
Cheers!

I agree with you DayDream.
They are going on and a lot of progress regarding laws etc. has been made last months while violence is going on.
Today I read again and they acknowledge it now that economic improvement also will curb violence.
A RV is a big step forwards for everyone in Iraq and all the countries that supports Iraq and the Rolclub.
They have to do it and they will do it. I am certain of that with all the news coming out the last days.
HCL is the key and discussed again yesterday. Nothing about it, just as IMF Article VIII.
All the big things are kept behind closed doors but I think a lot of it is done or will be done soon.
I don't forget the ICI that stated:
We will give aid in return for economic reforms with as top priority the HCL.
This baby MUST PASS before ICI will be enacted mid-december!
- 36 more dead today & counting (6 of them burned alive)
- Maliki being threatened if he meets with President Bush
- 1.48 Trillion IQD (not USD & being accounted for at the present exchange rate) allocation to Iraq's citizens that is part of her FY07 Budget
I have stated this before: Iraq possesses unbelievable assets that would render her tremendous wealth. And what about all of the great news feeds that are being posted here? Yes, this ladder is definitely going up. With this being said, logic also dictates that the IQD has no where to go but up in value.
However, if you are looking for, or hoping for an overnight, miraculous reval of the IQD (ie...1441 IQD to 1 USD today, then 1.48 or whatever IQD to 1 USD tomorrow), it will not nor will it ever happen. Personally, my bet is on the common sense fact that the IQD's value will considerably appreciate in the years to come. I have also stated many times before that we are looking at anywhere between 3-5 years (minimum) before we see any respectable gains as well.
Could I be wrong? Absolutely. Do I hope I am wrong? Absolutely again.
However, with the extreme violence, mindless brutality, ghastly carnage, corruption, hypocrisy & hatred at every possible level, outside interferences & outright shear, blind & religious ignorance at the staggering level, who in their right minds would want to completely move in at this time to help Iraq exploit her tremendous assets? And yes, I know that everyone has been working so very hard to make it happen for the last 3.5+ years. 3.5+ years & it is far worse now than then? Being military & having served there twice, these are facts. So think about this. Who's kidding who?
Well, hopefully some of you can help shed some more light on the above. Do not slam me - I am just trying to think from experience, plus logically -vs- emotionally.
Hope everyone has a great day & a wonderful weekend... :ro_emote:
