PM Maliki to visit Kurdistan Region soon
Lawmaker Firyad Rawanduzi emphasized in an exclusive statement to PUKmedia Correspondent that the Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki will visit Kurdistan Region in the next few days in a response to an invitation by the Iraqi President Jalal Talabani.
Rawanduzi said that al-Maliki, during the visit will meet the Kurdish senior officials to discuss several key issues among them: the outstanding issues between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Federal Government and promoting the ties between the Kurdistan Alliance Bloc and the Unified Iraqi Alliance

Iraqi PM due in the US on July 22
While UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon is about to submit his Iraq report to the Security Council, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs announced that US President Barack Obama will receive Prime Minister Nuri Al Maliki on July 22 to discuss issues of common interest starting with means of building up “an independent, stable and sovereign Iraq” through a “responsible” withdrawal and by encouraging new trade and cultural ties.
During his visit to the United States, Al Maliki is due to hold meetings in New York about exempting Iraq from Chapter VII. Iraqi Prime Minister’s visit to the US has been paved for by Iraqi Foreign Minister Hosheyar Zebari who visited the US earlier and met with Secretary General Ban Ki Moon.

CBI dollar sales off to fresh jump in daily auction
Demand for the dollar jumped up in the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) auction on Sunday, reaching $99.200 million compared to $66.815 million in the previous session.
“The demand hit $8.500 million in cash, covered by the bank at an exchange rate of 1,183 Iraqi dinars, and $90.600 million in foreign transfers outside the country, covered at an exchange rate of 1,173 Iraqi dinars per dollar,” according to a CBI news bulletin received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
None of the 10 banks that participated in today’s session offered to sell dollars.

Trade ministry to hold 36th edition of Baghdad fair
The Iraqi Trade Ministry is preparing to hold the 36th edition of its annual Baghdad International Fair for 2009 after a several year hiatus, a ministry source said on Sunday.
“Invitations were extended to all ministries and firms wishing to participate in the trade event,” the source was quoted in a ministry release as received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
Meanwhile, the ministry’s Iraqi fairs organization embarked on arrangements to participate in the 12th trade fair of member states of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) in Egypt on October 11-16, 2009 and also to participate in the 2009 edition of the Izmir International Fair in Turkey, the source added.

Zebari, Clinton discuss Iraqi-US agreement
Visiting Iraqi Foreign Minister Hosheyar Zebari to Washington described talks with his US counterpart Hillary Clinton as fruitful mainly regarding the strategic framework agreement for cooperation between the United States and Iraq.
