Thread: When do you think IT will happen?!?

We have waited so long...and everytime something happens (a new law, another press conference, another international meeting...)we always think that NOW, they will HAVE to revalue... and to us it seems soooo logical...and inevitable...and then - poff! Nothing!
So I have become very cautious with my hopes...I HOPE it will revalue real soon (like yesterday! ), and God knows I need it...but I will not let myself get hyped up until I see it.
Except on Friday evenings, of course, when Lasse (my boyfriend) and I sit on the porch drinking beer dreaming and planning...
However, except for those Fridays, it is a little boring! More sane, yes, but more boring than being insane!

So...hence this poll (if I figure out how to make one )

When do you think the reval will take place? And please, I'd like comments also!

And of couse I want everybody to answer what they REALLY believe...but deep in my heart I hope the answers will make me go insane (in a good way) again!

All I am going to say on this topic is don't get carrried away by anyone who comments that they know when this would happen. The blunt truth is that no one knows. If they did, they wouldn't be posting such confidential information on a public forum. All that we have at our disposal are pointers in the form of the good news trickling down from Iraq to enable us to piece together a clue here and there and form a guesstimate. Apart from that, I wouldn't even go near a rumour cos by now I am allergic to them!

Its in the process of a RV as we speek. As far a a peg, God only knows??

While I believe 7/8 th, I voted for sometime in Jan. Always seems the Iraqi gov't is 3 dinars short of a load in decision making.

Hoping for January 7th or 8th, but since they like to drag things out I voted by the summer for a peg of .74 to start with increases in the following years. I don't know if I can take this working thing much longer. Most of us were so sure that it would have happened by now.

OK, I'm hoping for sometime in January and praying for the week of the 7th throgh the 11th.

So with all that to comb thru. I voted for Sometime in January for the Poll. But down deep inside I want to say by June 07. So there is my Fun part Contribution.

I voted before summer. I really hope it is this month, but I also remember we thought it would happen before Christmas 2005. So we wait and hope!

I voted Jan 7th/8th. They most likely will start out slow as they get back from the holiday. I suspect we may see a 1 to 5 point re-val the first couple days back. But once they get their feet back under them Shabibi will most likely return back to a more aggressive appreciation of 10 points or more. At some point in this progression they will almost assuredly "peg" or "fix" the IQD to the USD as is the other Middle Eastern countries. It is important for all of us to keep an eye open for this event. Naturally we want this to happen at the highest currency exchange rate possible.
