i don't know how to make banners but in creating advertising campaigns (ie banners in this case), one needs to undertstand the CHIEF revenue generating objective (the "what") of teh company or organisation who is advertising the product.

in this case, the organisation's objective is to AID others. BY including the element of helping others ALONG with "what's in it for me", u have a winner.

people by nature may be selfish but we all want to help others too. so in this case, we are selling a selfish dream but the worst case scenario for the ones who don't win is that part of their purchase is now a contribution to helping others.

"green" investments are becoming very popular. this would contribute to the industry of "green gambling". at worst, you gamble ur funds and loose it all knowing that a portion of it was used to help some needy people.

RESULT= YOU FEEL GREAT ABOUT LOSING YOUR GAMBLE. from a business point of view, this helps people to come back MORE OFTEN than not - unlike traiditonal gambling venues. why? one needs to recover their original "investment" and secondly, there would be little very guilt when one knows that they are helping others.

if played correctly (the marketing i mean), you could successfully sway ordinary charity givers to this hybrid. ie, give money which you are already doing but also have a chance of getting something back. of course all of this comes down to EXACTLY what percentage of total intakes goes to charity causes.

in most charity organisations, only 20% or less goes to helping others. that sucks and that's why i rather give charity to those who need directly who or those organisations that can demonstrate that they are truly a charity.

I personally would go for 2 TYPES OF BANNERS. one would be marketed to traditional gamblers and the other for those who love giving charity. this approach of focus marketing would result in generating larger amounts of revenue.

you would also get free PR which would naturally arise when you mix charity and gambling as a business objective. this is the classic robin hood controversy except in this case, you are ASKING from the ordinary and giving to the poor while retaining some for that lucky winner from the ordinary world. imagine the discussions and arguments for and against. millions of dollars of free publicity would earned without paying a single cent in advertising.
