    Daily Market Commentary for November 25, 2009

    Market News

    Stocks were rising this morning after market news and a better than expected report on weekly jobless claims. (Read more at Millennium-Traders.Com)

    Economic data released today:

    MBA Mortgage Applications:
    U.S. MBA Market Index fell 4.5% at 601; compared to last week reading of 629.1; U.S. MBA Purchase Index rose 9.6% at 223.1; compared to last week reading of 203.6; U.S. MBA Refinance Index fell 9.5% at 2818.7; compared to last week reading of 3115.1.

    Core PCE Price Index:
    October PCE Core Price Index rose 0.2% Rate on month; rose 1.4% on year; October PCE Price Index rose 0.3% Rate on month; rose 0.2% on year.

    Durable Goods:
    U.S. October Durable Goods Orders fell 0.6%; compared to consensus of an increase by 0.5%; U.S. October Durable Goods Orders, Excluding-Transportation, fell 1.3%; U.S. October Durable Goods Orders, Excluding-Defense, rose 0.4%; U.S. September Durable Goods Orders Revised to rise 2.0% from an increase by 1.4%.

    Initial Jobless Claims:
    U.S. Jobless Claims for week of November 21 fell 35K to 466K compared to survey of a decrease by 10K; U.S. Continuing Claims for week of November 14 fell 190K to 5,423,000; U.S. Jobless Claims Revised for week of November 14 to 501K from 505K; U.S. Jobless Claims Fall to Lowest Levels Since September 2008.

    Personal Spending Personal Income:
    September Personal Income Revised to rise 0.2% from unchanged%; September Spending Revised to fall 0.6% from a decrease by 0.5%; U.S. Personal Income rose 0.2% in October; compared to consensus of an increase by 0.1%; U.S. Personal Spending rose 0.7% in October; compared to consensus of an increase by 0.6%.

    University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index:
    End-November Expectations 66.5; October 68.6; Preliminary November Sentiment was 66.0; 12-Month Inflation Forecast rose 2.7%; October rose 2.9%; End-November Current Index 68.8; October 73.7; End-November Sentiment 67.4; October 70.6.

    New Home Sales:
    U.S. October New Home Sales rose 6.2% to 430K; compared to consensus of 398K; U.S. September New Home Sales Revised to 405K from 402K; U.S. October Median New-Home Price fell 0.5%.

    Crude Oil Inventories as released by Department of Energy [DOE]:
    U.S. Crude Oil Stockpiles rose 1.019 Million Barrels at 337.808 Million Barrels; U.S. Crude Oil Stockpiles rose 1.019 Million Barrels in week; was seen increasing by 1.5 Million Barrels; U.S. Gasoline Stockpiles rose 1.003 Million Barrels at 210.085 Million Barrels; U.S. Gasoline Stockpiles rose 1.003 Million Barrels in week; was seen increasing by 0.5 Million Barrels; U.S. Distillate Stockpiles fell 0.529 Million Barrels at 166.868 Million Barrels; U.S. Distillate Stockpiles fell 0.529 Million Barrels in week; was seen increasing by 0.2 Million Barrels; U.S. Refineries Ran at 80.25% versus 79.44% week ago; U.S. Refineries Ran at 80.25%; was seen at 79.70%.

    News came out yesterday in favor of the dollar. Unemployment decreased and increased sales of new homes:Applications for unemployment benefits 466.00K
