Thread: New Project in the works. Possibly unique. - Planning stage.

Let me just quickly introduce myself; I'm a long time Pureinvestor member, since before PIPS and the clones. I'm on the "good side", ever patient and I believe Mr Marsden will indeed bring PIPS back to us all soon. I've tried to be an active member although I am a bit shy :) I won the PicTrust logo contest (I was very happy about that :D ) some people remember me as "teppo" from the old forums.

Ok, so what's this about then you ask, well I got an interesting idea while I was browsing a PTS site. I found myself getting excited over a fun feature a certain PTS site had. Basically what it entailed was playing a simple slots-game for more credits. So I started thinking if I (being a programmer) could do something that is exciting for others.

All the PTS or traffic exchange sites are more or less the same, you click (or run automatically) and look at a site... and that's it. To be frank that is boring. Couldn't there be a fun way of advertising your businesses? My ideas started to take shape, but I wanted more. Having fun while earning advertising credits isn't enough, you should be able to earn cash too! There should be unique and fun ways of advertising your sites, like setting up posters without going outside.. like being in a city, a virtual city... no wait, a VIRTUAL WORLD with many cities and cool places, right in your browser (without installing any software or plugins).

Do you know StormClix by StormPay?, throw that in, surf exchange with a twist, throw that in, PTS, throw that in , then mix it ... interesting?

Wait, now comes the cool part.
The World,
You would be able to walk around in the wilderness, you would find things like rocks, tviggs whitch you could sell for money. You would meet wildlife that you could slay and then loot and sell the loot for money.

Even more possibilities, you would be able to take your planks and things you find in the wilderness and construct items from them, say a chair, you could then sell the chair for money.

Who would buy a virtual chair? Well you see there are houses for sale and houses give you certain perks like advertising space (that you could rent out) and a personal meeting place with a live chat and more.

That's just the tip of the ice-berg, it would basically be a Virtual World and people would use it because 1: it's fun, 2: you can earn money and 3: you have a unique way of advertising your business to an active community.

Ok, phew, I just typed from the top of my head..
You get the idea, an online community with active people where you can chat, share your opps, surf for credits and money and, play games, place posters in a virtual city, construct virtual items that you can sell (imagine lots of different items that have different uses, that people could use in the world).

Oh yeah, one very important thing: AUCTIONS! You could actually sell advertising credits for money to other people, you could also auction virtual items. Say you manage to slay some wild beast while your were out looking for some apples, you find a very rare knife in the loot. This knife would enable the owner to slay beasts in a very effective manner giving many loots! (some people might enjoy hunting and see a opportunity to profit in loots) you would then auction this rare knife and hunters would fight over it on the auction :) That's just one example!

A downside with this is that you have to be active, this isn't a set it and forget it. But then again MANY people are online much of their time, here's a way to advertise your opps actively and have some fun too, while earning money! So it's not so much of a downside after all :)

That's the basics but there are some many opportunities with this, there are lots of smart ways to utilize a virtual world, you could even start your own contest (that cost you nothing) and have sponsor for that event (you earn cash, or alternatevily advertise your own opp), your imagination is your limit.

Imagine billboards in cities, imagine shoutboxes, image live chats, image events & contest (lots of people, lots of exposure).

It's a big project and it would take a long time to complete it (maybe in 2007?) but I think it's a really cool thing and I think it's quite unique, has anyone seen anything like this before?

If there is interest and I decide to go forward then I would be needing BETA testers. I should mention that this is not a 3D world, it would be 2D like a normal website (with a map, Locations list, Frineds list right in the browser)

Question to you: What do you think?

Am I totally crazy?
Is this viable?
Would you participate?

I googled a bit about virtual economies. It seems it's a big thing already, a lot of money is made on virtual sales!

I was thinking about target audience, are online-business people interested in this kinda thing? Maybe they just wanna have their no-referring-needed-2%-per-day programs... or..?

I'm not saying this project would need referring, it's just that a big part of this project is giving people a way to advertise their opps. If people are not into referring then they wouldn't need this. There's ofcourse the fun part and the earning part but maybe online-business people don't wanna have (this kind of) fun ..? (I have this mental image of a serious, number crunching person when I think online-business, hehe).

But then again there is number crunching involved too, you gotta keep track of the price of, for example, Platinum, buy at 121% calculate in various fees and come to the conclusion that you should sell it at 124% to reach your mark. Then keep track of the prices on Gold, Silver, Lithium, Sodium, Rubidium, Neodymium, Gadolinium, Scandium and a bunch of other things :)

This sounds like a great site/plan...all the surfing the rolclubers do, why not offer a something a lot more "fun" and what could be more fun than earning some extra money, meeting people and enjoying the site!
