Order fills usually take a fraction of a second in FOREX, since all buy and sell commands are routed at light speed through automated brokerage platforms and dealer networks. Market orders execute faster because a trader is willing to buy or sell at the market price, while limit orders are only filled when the currency pair hits the price level specified by the trader. The only time market order fills can be delayed or execute at a price significantly away from what the trader was expecting is when surprising news rocks the currency markets and causes an unexpected spike in volatility. Despite this, it's very rare for order fills to take more than a few fractions of a second in all the main Forex pairs, such as EURUSD, GBPUSD, AUDUSD and JPYUSD.
