There are several medical conditions that forces a woman to choose IVF surrogacy to have their own biological child. Examples of medical conditions include: severe heart disease or pulmonary, severe kidney disease, systemic lupus, history of Breast Cancer, Cystic Fibrosis or Severe Diabetes.

Other causes may include medical syndrome Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser (MRKH), when a woman is born without a uterus. Also, several women have undergone a hysterectomy for fibroids, endometriosis or cancer. The uterus of a woman can become nonfunctional by a previous infection or previous surgery resulting scar tissue within the uterine cavity, called Asherman syndrome.

Other reasons why a woman may require that a surrogate carry their child is having an obstetric complication such as severe hypertension, severe diabetes or delivery complications resulting in a hysterectomy, recurrent pregnancy loss (secondary to anatomical problems) which is not surgically repaired.

Some patients have experienced repeated failure IVF and therefore require a Gestational Surrogate. Although there is no specific test for implantation failure, most failed IVF causes are secondary to poor quality embryos and eggs. Typically, these patients cannot conceive after IVF / Donor Egg.
