In 2000 I joined an MLM company based in New Hampshire.
In 2001 the company disappeared.
I've just now found out what happened to it.
In the 17 months the company existed it grew to over 37,000 members;
however, there was ONE unhappy member who complained to the
NH Bureau of Securities Regulations. That one member remains unknown
to the owner of the company to this day.
The member alleged that the company was a pyramid scheme. The state
closed the business down while they "investigated"; the owner could not
even notify other members that there was a problem. After the investigation was over, and no wrongdoing was found, it was too late to
recover from the damage done.
As the owner said, "The government does no compromise, cooperate, or allow you to fix the problem. They just do what they do best, shut you down, put you out of business and try to make you out to be an unscrupulous person in the eyes of your constituents and members."
Anybody can allege anything -- even a falsehood; proving yourself innocent can be very costly.
Multiply this example by the membership in our company and you begin to see the magnitude of the problem faced by our CEO from attacks by
unscrupulous people from many directions.
