Master Bank was established at the end of 1992 as "municipally oriented". Enterprises that provided continuous functioning of Moscow infrastructure became first clients of the bank, at that time being a small one with an authorized capital of only 10 million rubles.

The "Bank-Client" electronic payment system was brought in 1996 that excluded the gap between the Bank and a client's office. A far-sighted policy and guiding principle of counterparts' reliability at the interbank market allowed Master Bank not only to avoid losses during the August crisis but to significantly enhance its positions. In 1998 the Bank became a member of MICE (Moscow Interbank Currency Exchange) being entitled to trade all the foreign currencies quoted at the exchange. At the height of the crisis it enabled the Bank to offer its partners a complete range of services on conversion operations.
High reliability, stability and professionalism of Master Bank have got general recognition. The Bank was given the status of Authorized body of such structures as State Customs Committee and Property Fund of Moscow. Wachovia Bank N.A. – New York International Branch, American Express Bank LTD, Dresdner bank AG, Commerzbank AG, Raiffeisen Zentralbank, Ost-West Handelsbank, Banca Nazionale Del Lavoro and others are among its foreign partners.
