    Default A Lesson From Apollo

Apollo 13 mission was supposed to land 2 men on the moon. It didn't make it. Things went wrong. So wrong that the astronaut's nearly lost their lives to asphyxiation, and then their trajectory back to earth had to be manually corrected so they wouldn't veer off into outerspace, and then they noticed that the heat shield was damaged. Minutes before the craft entered earth's atmosphere, the flight director allegedly overheard a comment that this could become NASA's worst disaster. The flight director allegedly interrupted the conversation and stated: "I believe this will be our finest hour." The astronauts lived.

For all the doom and gloom that pervades our thoughts and communications when things don't go right, there are still those who are steadfast in their belief that things will turn out right. Let's hope that our flight director is one of those people. I believe he is.

And maybe it is more constructive for us to believe that our finest hour is ahead of us - not behind us - and plan for the best.

To Bryan, if you read this, I plan to go to Portugal next year. I've always wanted to visit the country, so I'm going next year. I couldn't go to Hawaii because I had no money. I still have no money. I had put a lot of hope and plans on PIPS. Maybe too much. While there is so much talk of PIPS' demise, I hold to the belief that PIPS is adjusting its trajectory and will eventually see its finest hour. I have already set it in my mind that I will go to Portugal next year. Have you set it in your mind that there will be a convention?

If you set it up, you'll see that hundreds of members will race to make reservations. Actions speak louder than words. For every one sour post in the forums, there must be a hundred silent folks who look ahead to better times. And they'll take concrete, constructive action and reserve their place at the convention. (Yes, there will be snickering about making reservations with PicPay. So what? Such people have never really accomplished anything. Most of us don't pay attention to them.)

Here's a challenge: We have a bumpy road ahead of us. How do we make it fun? How do we take advantage of the bumps? How do we adjust our thinking and our strategies so that the outcome will be better than we had planned for? How do we keep the light always in our view and not be distracted by the tunnel?

Well, that's all I have to say for now. I'd like to start planning now to meet some members of this association in Portugal next year.

    later,
    Jerry

Thanks Jerry I think we all needed that, what a terrific comparison, and I love the quote "I believe this will be our finest hour " :D :D :D

I am also looking forward to going to Portugal next year. Getting prepared mentally is a good exercise. My wife and I did that for the convention in Hawaii - initially my wife felt that we'd never make it but we slowly accumulated enough Available Funds to pay for the convention - the $2000 airfare we paid ourselves and still feel it was a great investment.

We met a lot of good people in Hawaii and hope to meet more in Portugal.

If you're feeling negative right now, look at the free software at: http://www.jmskye.com/attractorsoft/
and do the exercise - it's related to a book called "The Attractor Factor" and either one will help everyone.

    Regards
