Default Any techs able to help

I have a problem with one of my 2 computors.
They have both got exactly the same settings but one of them will not popup the new links when going from one link to another from the first link page.
All I get is a blank screen with the windows icon still spinning but will not load.
    I run XP pro.
Maybe someone out there in PIPs land can help me ,it would be much appreciated.

maybe the browser in offline mode, try to go to File > Work Offline , uncheck that option.

or maybe the computer have spyware or adware that cause it. you can try to scan and remove using adware / microsoft antispy beta. look for it in google.com

    good luck.

If you have a popup blocker installed that will cause that to happen.. The most effective way if you wish to receive the popup is to hold the 'control' key down as you click the link. This allows the popup or seperate page to appear by bypassing the blocker

    Default Thanks to you all

Thanks for your replies,I have tried all of the above remedies but alas none of these fixed the problem.
I think I will just have to reformat the thing and go from there.
    Thank you once again

    Graeme,
maybe this is just a writing error but... just in case you mean it: reformatting your pc is quite drastic - you might not need to do that. I should first try to uninstall & reinstall your internet browser, or installed & tested (if you use Internet Explorer) an alternative browser like Firefox.
Anyway... good luck. Computers are always fun working with... an eternal journey of the unexpected :-).
    Greetings,
    Hasse

I had exactly this problem last year and there appeared to be only one solution after trying all the things suggested above.
I re-installed Windows over the existing version. This avoided the need to format and start from scratch and cured the problem.

    Ok,
Question--what service pack are you running?

To find out go to the my computer icon, right click properties, general tab. there it will tell you what service pack you are running.

    1. problem may be is that your security settings are set to high,
Go to your internet options (asumeing you are running internet explore V6) Via tools, internet options, security tab, custom settings, then scroll down to where it says use pop up blocker un tick that.

    2. you may have a firewall installed i.e. ZOne alarm, disable the pop up function.
failing that please write down what the simptoms are as they happen and E-mail them to me at [email protected] and I will endevour to solve them for you

Default Computer is freezing several times /day

Hi. After umpteen times now in the past week or so rebooting my computer I am coming here for some help, please.

I haven't downloaded anything in this past while for this to be happening. I have gone to Windows help and done the defragmenting of files that they suggested. I thought this may have solved the problem but no it appeared again (perhaps I was hoping it would solve the problem). Once when I was trying to see if I picked up a virus somehow by running Ad-Aware this program too froze and I had to reboot.

Any help or suggestions, please? Thanks, Leslie

This seems a memory problem. Which windows version do you have? Is it windows 98? See how many processes you have running after starting the computer (by pressing ONCE ctrl-alt-del keys), probably there is something taking so much memory. IF this was the case then you could do a "selective" start...
