Interesting- I gave my "notice" last Saturday night in a PM that I would not be back. Things were going in an uncomfortable direction IMO. Stopped by at the dark side- some good discussion and not quite as caustic as it once was, but I'm just not an IIF guy I guess. What a surprise to check in here today and see some old faces (well-you know).
Good to see. Might just hang around here. Probably more time invested here than anywhere else anyway (by a longshot).

Explain how I was taken advantage of?
Before I ever looked at any of these forums, a friend of mine had researched the dinar and brought it to my attention. As soon as he told me about it I knew it was an amazing opportunity, It made sense to me logically and also had a gut feeling. You can search my past posts on this forum, and read in more detail my take on this investment.
Bottom line for me is that I have always felt this war was not an altruistic intervention to create a free, stable and sovereign nation for the Iraqi people. If we were really interested in maintaining order there we would never have devalued the currency to begin with. It would have been very easy to create a new currency and exchange out at at least somewhere near the old rate of $ .30 .
I think that aside from gaining a military presence in the region and controlling the oil, they are also manipulating the currency to line their pockets.
So, I have always thought that the success of the Dinar was inevitable. I knew I would not be satisfied unless I had at least 10 million, and I was really shooting for 20. So the rumors
just acted as a catalyst for me to work harder and be more aggressive about reaching goals I already had. They were also entertaining.
So, I know many people got really angry, at the rumor mongers. But unlike some get rich scheme or some other crazy bs scam, the Dinar is legit. The rumors may all be total fabrications but the facts remain: the dollar is on the decline, oil is going up, Dinar is going up, Iraq has 3rd largest KNOWN reserves, more water than any other country in the region, tons of natural gas, agriculture and a new secure and stable currency that is on the upswing.
So, if people bought on the rumors, no harm done. Maybe some dealers made money so what, anybody that has dinar will make a killing imho.
Lastly, I have posted this before, but I will say it again because I keep hearing this argument over and over: "A significant rv ( $ .01 - .99 ) is not possible because the CBI will not have the dollars in reserve to cover it"
Every one envisions that everyone with dinar will be rushing to the bank to change out their Dinar for Dollars the day after an RV; and that the CBI will have to cover it.
The truth is, that an RV will be preceded by or announced along with the enactment of an economic package including the HCL and FIL and the placement of the DInar on the foreign exchange.
Then two things:
One: The large investors mainly: the treasuries of the US, Russia, China, Japan etc. (everybody who has forgiven all of Iraq's debt) will be holding on to their dinar. Either waiting for it to rise in value or simply using it to purchase oil/ and invest back in Iraq.
Two: Now that the big economic news is out and people see the Phoenix rising from the ashes, there will be many investors brand new to the Dinar idea, who will see its potential and be buying.
So, for every one of us here rushing down to the bank to sell our Dinar there will at least one person rushing down to buy.
The CBI may not see one Dinar come back from the US.
So, for these reasons I see an RV of between $.01 and $ 1.20 as plausible. My guess is
between $ .10 and $ .33, and moving right on up to over $1.00 within a year after an rv, and eventually $2 +.
anyway that is my spin on things.
Peace
Michael

i will always feel that currency speculation is a worthwhile activity and constantly look for other currencies that may gain value. its not even a gamble as far as im concerned, and i always have something to look forward to when i come to the computer. as for a bigger gamble, go to the cosinos every weekend and see how much you make, you will have more losing weekends then winning ones.

IQD is a good investment
It's a good investment.
As someone else said - it's jumped in value 25%.
Cheney and McCain are in the middle east right now.
I wonder if that's a good sign?

IMHO the eventual withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, which appears likely after the November 08 elections, may well be the impetus needed to do two important things:
1. Switch the "tie" on the Dinar fronm USD to Euro, and
2. Revalue.
As I see it, both of these would have meet with approval locally (in Iraq), and would not be the worst thing that could happen for us speculators, given the current fall in the value of the USD.
