What Does Carbon Credit Mean?
A permit that allows the holder to emit one ton of carbon dioxide. Credits are awarded to countries or groups that have reduced their green house gases below their emission quota. Carbon credits can be traded in the international market at their current market price.

The carbon credit system was ratified in conjunction with the Kyoto Protocol. Its goal is to stop the increase of carbon dioxide emissions.

For example, if an environmentalist group plants enough trees to reduce emissions by one ton, the group will be awarded a credit. If a steel producer has an emissions quota of 10 tons, but is expecting to produce 11 tons, it could purchase this carbon credit from the environmental group. The carbon credit system looks to reduce emissions by having countries honor their emission quotas and offer incentives for being below them.

Carbon credits are like certificates that represent a reduction of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

Projects that prevent the generation of greenhouse gases or remove greenhouse gases from the atmosphere earn these credits which can, in turn then be sold to other businesses and individuals to offset the emissions they generate.

One carbon credit is the equivalent to a saving of one tonne of carbon dioxide (CO2).

What Evidence Supports, The Potential Size of This Market ?

President Obama has included €646 billion in revenue in his budget from carbon sales between 2012 and 2019.

Certified emissions reductions, which are credits derived from Kyoto programs, have risen 47% in the past month from €7.50 to €11.00. Prices for European credits, called EU Allowances, have gone from €8.00 to €13.00, a 63% rise in the same amount of time.

President Obama has proposed that companies must buy carbon credits worth one ton each at a price between €13 and €30 if they go over their established carbon cap level.

The first stage begins in Mali, with other projects in the advanced planning phase. The PRP maintains a watching brief as Governments and NGOs take the process forward. However, we continue to work with the public, private and NGO sectors to ensure that agriculture and its relationship with deforestation is maintained as a focus during the implementation of the Partnership Agreement.

The PRP is now part of The Prince’s Charities’ International Sustainability Unit, a programme of work to help build consensus on how to develop durable solutions which will underpin the mechanisms required to meet the challenges of climate change and natural resource depletion.

CCN February News Announcement
What a fantastic amount of growth CCN is currently experiencing. WE have had over a 100% increase in membership over the last 4 weeks. At this rate we expect to easily break through the 5000 membership mark by end of April 2011. It is envisaged that CCN will grow to over 200,000 members by the end of 2011, which will be just in time for the UNFCC approval of REDD initiatives internationally.
To help achieve the 200,000 member milestone, CCN are working on the following initiatives:
Firstly, the translation of the CCN website and membership areas into a total of 15 languages over a 4 months phased rollout.
In our first phase we will be translating the new CCN presentation and a refined version of the CCN website into Spanish, French, Italian, Bahasa Malaysia, Bahasa Indonesia, and the Croatia/Serbia/Bosnia/Macedonian languages. A new website is being prepared now that will allow people to access the new languages to be rolled out. We will be continually uploading new content to the site as it is translated. We expect to have the new site up by 21st of February, 2011 beginning with the latest translations of the CCN presentations.
Other languages to then be rolled out over the period of time will include: Mandarin, Portuguese, Slovenian, Hungarian, German, Russian, Korean, Japanese and Thai.
With these combined languages CCN will be able to reach billions of people throughout the world so that everyone can really get behind supporting and saving our world’s rainforests.

INDONESIA PRELAUNCH – President Erminio Kotlar in Indonesia
CCN President Erminio Kotlar is now in Indonesia working with our newest CCN Entrepreneurs who are quickly joining the business in support of the Rimba Conservation Project. The two CCN hotspots quickly attracting people are Bali and Jakarta.
The first CCN open meeting will be held in Bali at the Sanur Paradise Plaza Ji .Hang Tuah 46 Sanur 80228 Bali 7.30pm on this coming FRIDAY the 11th of February. Then again on the 16th of February at the same venue and time. If you would like to invite anyone in Bali to attend please do so.
