What I like about Ron Paul / Discussing Iraq

Ok, it has come to this, Gator inspired me. Should we be afraid now? LOL

The thing with the candidates is, there are bits in their programs that you like and there are others that you don't. So, it's a case of weighing what is more important.

"He is the only 2008 Republican presidential candidate to have voted against the Iraq War Resolution in 2002."

Very impressive. There, Ron & I completely agree.

"His most prominent moment came during the May 15 GOP Presidential debate when the following exchange occurred with fellow Republican hopeful Rudy Giuliani:

PAUL: They attack us because we've been over there. We've been bombing Iraq for 10 years. We've been in the Middle East [for years]. I think [Ronald] Reagan was right. We don't understand the irrationality of Middle Eastern politics. Right now, we're building an embassy in Iraq that is bigger than the Vatican. We're building 14 permanent bases. What would we say here if China was doing this in our country or in the Gulf of Mexico? We would be objecting."

I think he pretty much nailed it. "We don't understand the irrationality of Middle Eastern Politics." Do let that one into your mind for a moment. Saying we are going to bring 'democracy' to a region (by completely destabilizing because we sure don't have a grip on it) that's never had it, didn't ask us to bring it, was madness that has so far cost how many lives?

"We're building 14 permanent bases." I remember when people were looking for Bush's Exit Strategy and could not find it. Well, there isn't one. The US is in there for good. And you know who's paying for it.

"What would we say here if China was doing this in our country or in the Gulf of Mexico? We would be objecting."

You can take that to the bank!! Oh yeah, we would.

It's true. Unfortunately, this all started decades ago and it seems too late now to turn back.

Needless to say "FEC finance reports for the 2007 July quarterly indicate that Ron Paul has topped all other presidential candidates in campaign contributions from employees of the armed services, at 26.2%."
