....snip-snip... I know it is hard for me and for many for their loss. I am sad and sorry to see BM and SM sitting together in hand cuffs whether they are wrong or not. Maybe BM was right in saying " I have lost everything". As stated by the news reports SM, being a woman, was emotional and really cried before the judge when she spoke.
Getting old and has no more money and no where to go is very bad, but the possibilty of going through a prison stay for some time before retirement is worse in anyone's life.
After all, we are all human beings irrespective of colours or religions. Give and forgive is up to each of us.
God bless you all.
Thank you unclerol... I am sure many of us share your kind and humble sentiments too. Thank you also for your thoughtful post in reminding anyone wanting to sound otherwise than is already omitted to express their anguish across.
Your rationale is very much welcome too in ROLClub...
There was something clueless in Ponzi's cleverness. He had set a scheme in motion that was sure to collapse sooner or later. He was pulling in a pile of cash, but only at the expense of going into even greater debt. At some point, the sensible thing to do would be to take the money and run to someplace where the law couldn't get him.
Instead, he stayed where he was and continued to pay out. Ponzi wanted to look as honest as possible, and according to his autobiography, he was always hoping he could use the fortune he was accumulating to start a legitimate business that would make enough money to pay back all his investors and make everyone rich.
But I guess in the case of Bryan Marsden there wasn't any money to run away with. So where did it go?
1. The early birds, *******s made large sums from PIPS
2. Expenditures and failed projects
..and most of it was of course just
3. numbers on the screen - to quote a famous writer :)
Of course I am not suggesting that all investors were crooked, it only takes one rotten ***** to taint all. The scheme was open to abuse and there must have been some people who rubbed their hands in glee to think that this was a safe way to get rid of unlawful/illegal funds and earn a return.
Since being a PIPS ******* member I have seen the best and the worst in the way people behave. I resent the attitude of OFFSHORE WEALTH who is denigrating those who have open minds. I think PIPS may be finished but until someone can prove that it was crooked then I reserve judgement.
As I recall, Bryan was very concerned about who was investing and turned down large investors he thought were associated with illegal activities.
Does anyone else remember this?
I don't know about guilt or innonence, because Bryan could have truly been trying to do a good thing helping people invest, or he could have been messing everyone over from the beginning. We'll just have to wait and see what the court's find. I would like to know if we'll atleast get back the money we invested. But I do know that it could take a ling time to get all that figured out. We'll just have to be patient. Thanks to Marek for posting the article. Hope there is a light at the end of this tunnel!

I shall deduce that with an alternative as option....
Considering the "large & illegal" investors is a way to steer clear of ruffing up those hoodlum feathers....
Imagine if they were in.... BM may probably not be in safe custody or be watched/protected by the Malaysian Police host...
Ever considered of being buried in concrete cement as part of a foundation building if he was to accept their money or be bathe in acid and no more traces of BM either???
The chances of survival is guaranteed with innocent and harmless victims ...esp. those that will fall to his feet and idolise him (one can still find those ragtag team members in the 10by5, IFF, Auspips, ******* Club and Dutch VIPs Forum)...just because he spells out the right words and promises that seem likely and proven for a short while and seemingly appearing legit on the surface but for awhile only....
Well, he still played his cards wrong and gambled away his next call on the deck table...and was allowed to live to breath another day... because he saw it safer to avoid those "illegal funds" that can harm him immediately but not to most of the 200,000 ordinary pipsters that are not "mob-related"...who got conned and now, we wait and hear how the Justice Court in Malaysia shall uncover and expose each and every of the 41 counts and we shall then come to a sad but full closure....eventually.
But saying that he turned down or not welcoming illegal money is an easy cliché which you too, easily fell for his stunt! .... most of us did as a matter of fact and U R not alone on this factoid.
I've just read through all 16 pages. You know, I've been away for a long long time and if anything the quality of the membership here has deteriorated.
The orgasmic euphoria being demonstrated by so many sad and bitter people over this news is just disgusting. I don't understand how someone can be so filled with hate to get so much pleasure over someones misfortune regardless of whether they brought it on themselves or not. How sad for you.
[edited, i think there is no need to use font 5 when we can see it still with font 2. Admin]
I couldnt agree more. I have mixed feelings and since I met Bryan Im somewhat taken back as to his personal appearance. That does make me sad. As mentioned Bryan has yet to prove his case. I dont feel nastiness helps anyone. We all need to be mindful of the law or karma. Lets all try to do unto others as we would have them do unto us. Yes many are angry, upset and lost much. We are all adults, we made our choice and each of us joined Pips in the hope of personal gain. We knew there was risk involved. please take yourseleves back to your initial thoughts when you joined.
And if BM could prove that he's not guilty that still doesn't mean he will experience justice! When will you guys stop believing and trusting any state authority on this planet??
Wouldn't it be so sad it would be hilarious to see all those lemmings voluntarily jumping into the abyss.
