Use this simple trick to increase your connection speed. I dunno about Vista, but it works in XP.

• Log in as "Administrator" and not with any account of your name, say, "Dave".
• Click on "Start|Run" and type "gpedit.msc"(without the quotes).
• Go to the "Local Computer Policy" branch and select the "Administrative templates" branch.
• Now enlarge the "Network" branch and double click on "QoS Packet Scheduler" in the left window.
• Double click on "Limit Reservable Bandwidth", select Enabled and set 'Bandwidth limit (%)" to 0.
• Click on "Apply", "Ok" and reboot.

You should find a noticable increase in your connection speed.
