What does human breastmilk taste like? Is it any good to the adult palate?

From what I can recall (I've only tasted the ocasional drop of my own milk left behind on a finger after preparing a bottle of expressed milk), breastmilk tastes a lot like the sweet milk left behind at the end of a bowl of Frosted Flakes. Milky and sweet. It is so sweet due to the high lactose content: about 40% of total calories in breastmilk come from lactose.

As for the second part of your question, that depends entirely on the individual adult's own palate. The milk does not taste bad, but there is a understandable psychological hurdle. I do know of an individual who regularly consumed expressed human milk while undergoing chemotherapy because of the immune benefits (he is doing quite well today, and his cancer has been in remission for several years).

And of course, there are other adults who seek out breastmilk for reasons that have nothing to do with health... ;o)
